Actually, I agree with the original poster.
Pretty much all the people that flamed and moaned about level 4 missions where those that didnÆt do them û either because they couldnÆt and could not be bothered to do all the work involved to get to the stage when you can do them (IÆm talking standings not skills) or just didnÆt wanna do them.
Unfortunately CCP listened to their moans and have, if what I am reading now is true, nerfed them to the point they are not worth doing.
Eve is getting ever more expensive, the price of stuff has risen massively over the years and each new thing introduced seems to cost a fortune. Yet, there does not seem to be any way to make the huge amounts of money needed to fund this for the average player û even if trained up to a high level with high standings. Mega corps making a mint from tech 2 BPOÆs and so forth are unaffected. We have T2 BPO owners making billions in profit from them, and it is purely luck that they got them û surely this should be nerfed? Personally I think T2 BPOs should be steadily given out by research agents, not just a few û so they gradually become common and so gradually force the price now. As it is now, things like a T2 Cap charger BPO are just a license to print money.
Level 4 missions allowed the average player to make enough money to fund any kind of enjoyment in this game. Wars and PVP cost a fortune, level 4 missions gave a means to fund this in a reasonably fun way.
I think Eve is fast growing out of the reach for the small player, small corp or newbie. There is far too much isk tied up in too few people / corps. Level 4 missions allowed the people not privileged to join in and fight. Now itÆs hard for them to get the money to cover ships etc, but ever easier for the big Tech2 BPO holders to get stupidly rich.
As it is, lacking any T2 BPOs and not having urber amounts of time to put into this game, itÆs gonna take me weeks if not months to fund each battleship or HAC. This does not promote PVP in any way.
Eve must seem ever more daunting to the new player. In fact I started a new account not so long ago and I noted that within the starter corps it was pretty tricky to find a genuine newbie. So many were players starting another account û and what did they do, just transfer millions, buy up skills and train for a few weeks û it takes that before a new char can do anything remotely interesting.
There need to be ways to make a lot of isk in Eve without having to join a mega-corp, do the urber mining grind, or get lucky with a research agent.
