CCP needs to get us an EVE movie.

This movie will not be a condescending suckfest at all.

Despite what we think of the game, it just is not that well enough known to be of interest to the profit machine that is Hollywood. Game must be at the popularity level of a WoW or DOOM to attract enough financing.

If it does get enough financing for independent production though, one runs the risk of it being in the hands of Uwe Boll

To some, the very obscurity may work in its favor - Fewer pre-concieved notions, more lattitude in storyline development.

Certainly, there are stories enough to work from - the GHSC gank of Mirial & Ubiqua Seraph, for instance. That's a ready-made storyline that needs only minor fleshing-out to become a rather compelling movie.

Of course, this all presupposes intelligence and logic in Hollywood.
(Yeah, I know - Hollywood has it's own internal logic - Which everyone else calls 'insanity.')

That's the problem with this kind of statement in print, in that this could be interpreted as serious, sarcastic, or stupid.

I predict that Hollywood will treat any WoW movie with contempt for its audience and complete disregard to the game from which it draws its 'inspiration,' resulting in a condescending suckfest of a movie.

Actually an independent EVE movie about the Real Life behind the scenes hijinks and all that behind the meta-game, like the planning for the BoB bust-up and some of the infamous heists and crimes, would be a more compelling picture than yet another video game film. Except for the great gung-ho spirit of the DOOM movie, they have all really been bad (Lara Croft, Final Fantasy, yadda yadda).

It could even outdo "The Social Network" as a portrait of where the Internet is taking us.

well ...my 2 cents ...if its half as good as the southpark take on WoW ...then it will be worth a giggle ...get those lads to write the script ... then ill deffo go to the flicks to watch it
