And did you come running to the rescue of your employers ... noooo. You gave us free run for a couple of days.
From the same convo as the pay-off offer we were also told not to expect "a stand-up fight" as it isn't how you guys work; so true.
In reading this and other previous postings from HD, there could be some conclusions drawn by the impartial that are incorrect. Let me attempt to set things straight:
1. AOI has done a fantastic job and has been the kind of friends anyone would want to fight with in any situation
2. Fatballs is one of the best Fleet Commanders and tactitians in the game. We're learning a tremendous amount from him and his corp.
3. If in one of HD's numerous pay-off convos to me in the last five days since we were declared on, the above quotation is referring to my response to several HD member's multiple questions regarding a stand-up fight, I think the correct interpretation of that is one of "fight us on our terms". It should be noted that during the claimed and so-called "free-run" we've fought HD toe-to-toe several times, taken our losses (more than theirs) and inflicted a few ourselves, and overall have come away from our fights feeling rather pleased, given that they are pros at this and we are not.
4. The only pay-off convos I am aware of have been to me personally. In each I've been asked to pay HD off and they'll go away. Well, in each convo I've made it clear that we're enjoying this war, funded by someone else supposedly, as it is battle-hardening our members, most of which, as they have seen during our first battles, are not as experienced as HD members. The outright lie of their supposedly being told not to expect a stand-up fight from AOI is surprising, coming from a pro such as Avon. In fact, I've not ever convoed with Avon directly, unless Agnos, Frakri Hogsto, Kitty's Fire, or Nitro g are his alts. I wouldn't think he would need to make things up. Why not just stick to the truth? We've taken more losses than HD when we fought by ourselves, but HD has taken some, and they were a little surprised by the fact that a relatively inexperienced industrial corp can put up a fight at all. And now with our friends, we're stalemating HD at the moment. They had Huff Technologies three days ago declare on us as well, and things the last couple of nights have been a draw.
Avon, if the fact that we won't reveal our plans to you, won't pay off you off, and won't fight you the way you want us to, i.e. be targets for your long range Tempests, disappoints, then you'll have to learn to live with disappointment.
If you don't have a client, then your basis for this war is based upon a misjudgement - i.e. that we don't want it. The fact is, we're enjoying it. We're going to be moving to 0.0 sooner or later, and the sooner our guys learn how to handle this kind of thing, the better. This is the best kind of training ground I can imagine for our members.
If you do have a client, you can tell them that they are getting their money's worth. You are representing their interests - whatever they may be - well. However, please don't any longer go so far as to claim our good friends in AOI are not. Because they are. If they were not, you'd not have been to the forums about it.
