Quote: Bingo, aside from helping happless noobs get on their feet there ios no reason whatsoever for NPC goods to be supplied and demanded.
You mean apart from to actually provide a trading profession ...
Rod Blaine please stick to talking about the things you particpate in and understand (whilst Kerby Lane and Blind Fear are just plain selfish )

Quote: That is what the trading profession in eve is, trading stuff manufactered by others. Not trading stuff manufactuired by npc's and with a guaranteed purchase price you already know upfront at some other NPC.
Yeah right and there is plenty of that to go aroound 50,000+ players isn't there
Stop trying to wrap everything up in a tiny ball that all stems from mining blasted asteroids

Quote: Hehe, read up nub. I traded player made goods, minerals and loot, not planetary vehicles, antibiotics and the rest of that crap.
So now you are confirming that you have never traded NPC goods - hence my original statement of 'stay out of things that you know nothing about or don't do (because you don't 'like them')
GG

Quote: NPC goods are simply a mindless grind that pays too much in some cases. Who needs them, they only hold back the game.
The same can be said of mining - so what's your point exactly ... remove everything that isn't a challenge to you personally (and the huge corp you're in)

Edited by: MOOstradamus on 12/07/2005 15:33:22 Matthew - OK then lets just keep mining in the game, nothing else, as Mission rewards and NPC rat hunting also fall into the inflationary/add little to the game category. Oh joy everything should be player made and it should all spring from rocks !!
Your EVE sure is fun and varied. It caters well for every different type/style of player - especially any solo'ers I might add
*EDIT: Rod Blaine its pointless discussing anything with you and your elitest attitude - so please continue to enjoy the sound of your own voice *

So what does NPC rat hunting add Mr 'blinkered know-it-all' that makes it worthwhile as a profession (and if you say risk - )
And as Jabaa Prime said ...
Quote: IMHO if some has the billions required to fill a frieghter, and want to risk being suicide bombed by a few individuals, and also takes the time to fly through that many stations picking up the trade goods, then all the more power to them.
Personally, it would bore me to tears.
Who in their right mind is going to do this, as J0sephine seems to suggest, and why would they wait to sell, as its nigh on impossible to buy up all of a commodities supply, whilst someone else nips in and freely/happily makes a tidy profit
As for ...
Quote: Is it so hard to understand what I mean ffs ? Both you and MOO seem just not to want to get it. I know why MOO doesn't, but you I don't quite follow.
I completely understand what you are saying, and to some extent why, but please enlighten me on the reasoning behind my disdain for your opinion on this matter ... (I can help you with sme of the words if you like )

Quote: With regards to trade runs, here is an example. 8am before you goto schoo/work buy some trade components, set autopilot to destination and enable it and go. When u come back the freighter should have reached its destination however slow it maybe. You are at school/work 6 hours and you have just made a ton of money.
- You don't need a Freighter to do this
- Although a 'ton of money' can be made, the % return is not that great in relation to the outlay
- And of course nobody else will play EVE whilst you're at school and have beaten you to the sale ...

Quote: You can put up loads of buy orders at the low price in lots of different systems - and in huge quantities. When you have a frieghter full hop around and stick out lots of sell orders at the best sell price.
Sort of implies someone needs to have spent a lot of time training up the Trade skills, perhaps even beyond Wholesale L4. Dare I say it a TRADER
And in my opinion anyone who matches the above description will most likely already know what they're doing and not really need a Freighter to continue to do so any more effectively ...
