Behind any character exists a person
But the unfortunately fact is; she was about to sleep with CCP recorded her voice.
Since her ton of voice is a bit low and monochord. After few minutes becomes annoying and irritating. That is the problem with this recorded voice.
I'm sure that everyone would agree that she has a lovely voice if it was not so repetitive and slow.
If her voice were more active and dynamic; even leaving her low ton of voice as it is then would be more acceptable.
Other aspect is; wrong programming - when you dock a ship;
Her voice overruns previous voice (since her voice is paused and slow).

I don't like what you've done to the new voice. It's very unclear now, the new natural voice was way better!

Originally by: Bastogne ALso mods, please recognize the ability of forumers to criticize a voice performance without being directly disrespectful to the voice actor/actress. It's no different that a movie review.
In fairness, there's a difference between giving constructive criticism and insulting people and it's pretty clear.

I do not like the new voice. Please bring back the post Castor voice.

I must say that the 'tuned' Aura voice is much worse than the previous. It's much more hollow and has lost it's 'personality'.

They decided to add alot of new voice samples, so rather than having Jon Hallur recording the new ones himself and tweaking his voice again to sound like the old samples (which may not end up perfect), they went with the much easier alternative -- re-doing all of them with a real female voice, gaining continuity in the process.
Personally I like the new voice alot more than the old one.
I like the new voice too, kind of reminds me of a female marvin the paranoid android that Alan Rickman did.

WTF! The voice was mostly fine before, now it sounds like it belongs on a caldari ship. Geesh, all this argument on the voice you'd think it was a missle or turrent nerf or somthing. The other poster in this thread was right, poor ccp. Damn if they do,damn if they don't.

Old voice > cold War version 1 > Cold War Version 2
The 7/13 patch changes to the voice were decidely not an improvement. All the things that were irritating about it are exaggerated, the things that were pleasent about it are gone.
Either way, the Cold War voice sounds horrible, when 5 or so of my weapons run out of ammo at the same time. The overlap when docking is also unpleasent. Neither of these were problems with the original voice, and yes, these are events that happen several times in the normal course of play.
This is really in need of some attention, but honestly, don't pull anyone off working on real problems, by now we've come to expect Quality-of-life issues like this to take an oddly low priority.
And I'd take _any voice, if it came with a 'reload all weapons' button.

Okay I have to say I like the new voice...no I love the new voice. She sounds sexy and as an American her accent is ohh so /emote Shudders
But the problem I have is there is too much emotion in her voice. She is a computer, she needs to sound more "matter o' factly" and less ummm you know...god damn hot. Or better yet I think she could still sound silky and sexy without putting as much emotion in her phrases.
No but serious her voice is sexy. /emote Shudders
(and if my GF sees this I WILL end up with a black eye)

I didn't mind the first Cold War voice, but now the volume is too low and it sounds like they've run it through a filter to reduce the quality.

I think they should remove all the voice clips and replace them with clips of the voice actress telling the players to **** off for whining so much about every little thing. ------------------------------------- You are all worthless, and weak.

I don't like the new voice, its too slow, it has little or no intonation and it overlaps. The previous voice was perfect. It blended in well. I've listened to it for over 2 years now and it never got annoying!

I do not like the new voice, and would like the option to use the old voice instead. I simply like the synth voice better... it gives a more "Eve" feel to the game.

I was thinking they should use the different voices for the different races, but if weÆre going to dream about new computer voices why not get Cortana from Halo. |

Since there is so much controversy over all this, why can't they just put a toggle into the Audio options for one voice or the other?!

I don't really mind the new voice except for the fact that I'm having problems clearly making out what she's saying. The enunciation of the words isn't as clear as the old voice.
Personally, why not just throw up the old voice as an option in the menus? They still have the old sound files somewhere so it probably wouldn't be to hard to throw into a quick patch.

As stated numerous times in this thread so far:
Add toggle in menu for the 3 voices added so far.
Problem solved...
P.S Keep in mind that a movie review is about something that doesnt breath...

I would go for a Russian one, I am really not bothered by the voice either. It is better than when there was not one at all.
As for Sean Connery, I am not sure about the idea of a 70 odd year old man with the world's hairiest chest being in charge of my ship whilst I am vulnerable and naked in a tank of green jelly.

Edited by: Dahin on 26/07/2005 11:49:00 being very respectfull all around:
After long-hour meetings and nefarious discussions, maza nostra has identified what the voice reminds us of: "A female human sexually-ecstatic under the influence of large doses of pot".
Wtf was TomB doing with her in the recording room, and why did the smoke alarm go off during the recordings?
EDIT: I had to use the disrespectful term pot because the word marijauna does not exist in the universe of eve

I hope that even the old voice Girl is still a CCP emplyee! So mine is not an offence to the new one, but a declaration of "i miss u so much" to the old one.
I can bet she's happy to hear that not all pilots forget her so quickly!
I still hope her voice can be brought back as an otions to choose between the two voices.

I like it, the new voice brings more harmony to the game "your mining lasers have been deactivated"...
Next time I hope they'll choose an islandic viking to do the voice.. or the one that does Cartman in South Park "you stupid fñ"% you just shoot CONCORD", "respect my authoritaaaeee".. :P
then again, we can just stick to this soothing woman..
nice with change isn't it.. suits the name aswell.. cold war.. i picture her as the ice queen in narnia.. -

Didn't like it at first but I really like it now. It's very soothing.
My favourite soundbite it when you set the same destination twice. She sounds really mournfull when she tells you this. The pre-cold war voice sounded stroppy (annoyed) with you and was another favourite of mine in it's old guise.
