This is one more thread to add to the multitude of threads about the future of Highsec for the purpose of presenting ideas and solutions for the next CSM session. As the elections for a new CSM start to appear on the horizon now is a good time to discuss what is going on in Highsec today and where it 'should' be going.
To that end, the debate got a lively injection of thought and logic today when James 315, the Founder of the New Order of Highsec movement, declared his intention to run for the next CSM. This declaration brings a voice of sanity to what was becoming, in my view, a very "WoW"-centric discussion by potential CSM candidates on the various blogs.
James 315 stands for making Highsec an enjoyable and interactive region of space for all players. A place where players don't feel that to "play" the game they "have" to go AFK. James 315 will bring a vision of Highsec that is clearly articulated and important for the game at its current state of development.
Now is the time for us, the players of EVE, to start looking at the various CSM candidates and to start making some noise about what we are looking for. The future of the game is impacted by the CSM and, in theory, the CSM are chosen by the players to represent the players.
So, this time around, I'm paying attention. I urge everyone else to pay attention as well and to start asking the tough questions of the players who are stepping up and announcing their intentions to run. The earlier in the debate we bring up questions the more thoughtful and useful the answers will be by the time the CSM actually happens.

Earlier this evening, in the Highsec ice system of Brapelille, James 315 announced his candidacy for CSM 8. Since there is nobody better suited to tell the masses of New Eden than James himself, his announcement speech is transcribed below.

Oh look an other james cultist who thinks bumping miners is any better than actually mining.

I posted this in Jita Park Speakers Corner, but would like to reaffirm my support in this thread:
The fact of the matter is that James 315 has done more for hi-sec content, new account generation, and old account retention than any other hi-sec candidate we have ever seen. People have flocked to his banner from all across New Eden because of his revolutionary and fresh outlook on Hi-Sec. He has earned their admiration and mine by promoting his views in a thought-provoking and eloquent "true to the sandbox" methodology.
I share his vision of hi-sec where awoxers, scammers, ninja looters and gankers are cherished and respected part of the community (even if its those guys you love to hate) and where no-one is ever "perfectly safe" from player interaction.
I personally think that not only is James 315 the CSM representative we deserve, he is the representative we oh so desperately need to move forward as a community. I fully endorse and support James 315 with all of my accounts.
All hail the Supreme Protector Of Hisec and CSM delegate of our hearts James 315!

I don't think James 315 representing hi-sec will go over too well with the average hi-sec player.
That said, I was under the impression that CCP doesn't actually comply with CSM wishes on most occasions.
Serious question though. I have played EvE off and on for the past few years and I am rather new to forums compared to some people and was seriously wondering how and when do we get to vote for CSM?
Also where do the canidants generally get together to make their case?

First of all James315 solution to make hisec afk mining "interactive" is to charge miners 10 mil per year to be able to afk mine LOL
(BTW AFK Ice mining THE ONLY WAY to ice mine, unless you're on medication and enjoy watching ice mining lasers turn over every half hour)
The problem in Eve is NULL sec, not Hisec, Hisec is the Engine that keeps the Eve economy going, wreck the engine, you wreck the game.
The Massive Monopolies in Null are the real problem, sucking Trillions in Isk with absolutely ZERO risk from Gankers etc, something Hisec dwellers have to live with each day.

I have to say, I haven't been particularly impressed with the CSM representation this round. Hopefully the next one will be better. I'm really not interested in having EVE turned into an arcade game. To me, it seems that, (outside of continuous spiteful infighting), the CSM this term has been very focused on a different EVE. One that doesn't really seem particularly EVE-like at all.
Am I the only one that sees this? No idea really, but that is how it appears to me, and I'm not talking about WiS development or Skinning ships either. I just feel like they want it to be a cartoon series. zubzubzubzubzubzubzubzub |

Kamikaze atacks are ok, they are part of game and part of risk, while harrasing people by forcing them to pay isk because i do x thing to you are totaly against eula, stalking and harassment are agains eula.
Here we go with eula.
1.
You may not abuse, harass or threaten another player or authorized representative of CCP, including customer service personnel and volunteers. This includes, but is not limited to: petitioning with false information in an attempt to gain from it or have someone else suffer from it; sending excessive e-mails, EVE-mails or petitions; obstructing CCP Employees from doing their jobs; refusal to follow the instructions of a CCP Employee; or implying favoritism by a CCP Employee.
4.
You may not use GÇ£role-playingGÇ¥ as an excuse to violate these rules. While EVE Online is a persistent world, fantasy role-playing game, the claim of role-playing is not an acceptable defense for anti-social behavior. Role-playing is encouraged, but not at the expense of other player. You may not create or participate in a corporation or group that habitually violates this policy. Well it's a good job that you don't get to decide what is and what is not a violation of the the EULA then, the only people that get to do that are CCP and so far it seems that James 315 and the New Order do not, and have not violated the EULA as far as they're concerned. If you really feel that the EULA has been violated then raise a petition.
By the way your statement "Ps.Im not miners defender and im not against idea to make miners life in eve harder etc, hovewer i think his behavoir broke meny eula points, as you see you can avoid eula if CCP decide to give you VIP status ;)" is in itself a possible violation of the "or implying favoritism by a CCP Employee" clause. Should I raise a petition about that? (hint: I'm not that petty)
Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times, it's a goonspiracy. |

Now is the time for us, the players of EVE, to start looking at the various CSM candidates and to start making some noise about what we are looking for. The future of the game is impacted by the CSM and, in theory, the CSM are chosen by the players to represent the players.

Doesn't matter because CSM has nothing to do with high-sec - as well as with democracy and game development.
It's meta-game invented by CCP for for giant null and low alliances to keep their leaders busy in the game instead of leaving for other games along with hundreds / thousands of subscribers - by bribing them with free rides to Iceland and fanfest. Nothing to see here. |

Miners bumping is ok because EvE is santbox where people can do what they want, end even harassmen is against eula CCP alow this kind of harassment, because lack of definition what is good or what is bad, hovewer like you mention here for sure hundreds of petitions form people who feel that somone harrasing them.

I challenge you to provide one example of James 315 or the New Order ever preventing someone from playing EVE. We've stopped a lot of miners from mining, but never interfered with their right to sit in station and spin their ship.
On the contrary, many Highsec dwellers played EVE for their very first time due to James 315 and the New Order.

315 4 CSM8.
I can't think of a better candidate. James has taken so much of his free time to make sure that the miners of HiSec have a chance to be welcomed, meet new friends, and feel like part of something. The New Order is a gracious group of people, willing to help new players out, and go out of their way to spread friendship throughout all of HiSec.
HiSec is a better place for having who cares so much about the people in it. Seeing the democratically elected Savior of HiSec in the CSM is one of the best things that could happen to this community. |

Yeah, unless someone pretty bloody amazing begins campaigning I'll be voting for James and Malcanis, too.
I've been reading James' writing since Manifesto Two. When he announced his taking of the Halaima system I didn't think much of it - who could have imagined his New Order thing would catch on and become as powerful as it is today? I want to vote for him because I love his blog and I think voting for him would be funny, but I also believe he could do a great job if he wanted to. James believes in the highsec and emergent gameplay I want to see in EVE. He's intelligent and capable.
Although I'm still not sure how seriously he'd take the CSM if he was voted up, which is a bit of a worry vOv |

Honestly it can be quite difficult to tell - Kelduum Revaan, for example, seemed fairly serious about the CSM last year but has apparently hardly paid the slightest attention this year. I think that James will certainly be serious about the campaign - after all, if he can get onto the CSM it will be a source of endless tears from the carebears, even if he does nothing else - but it is harder to tell what he'd want as a member of the CSM.
On the other hand, if there's one thing that we can be sure of it is that he will fight the carebear creep, and personally, that's enough to get my vote.

Hahahaahaa. What? Are you not one of the, if not THE most useless CSM member we have ever had? You may be the closest thing to a "AFK botter" candidate though, as you have been, you know, not there.
James can do infinitely better job in representing the honest people living and working in highsec than you. By the way, those people include the "emergent game play losers". |

ROFL, you are quite possibly the most absent/useless member of the current CSM, you don't appear to have done anything since your election (not a personal slight, 99% of politics is inaction and lies). If you were truly the closest thing to a high sec candidate you would realise that highsec isn't just carebears (I am one) but gankers, awoxers, scammers, PvPers and everything else that one can do in Eve. Mittens has done more for highsec than you , and regrettably he's not even on the CSM.

Oh God the irony, it burns.
Issler who? Oh my apologies, how could I not recognized the fabled alternate who managed to sneak into the CSM after Mittanis resignation and Vile Rats passing. 12th place is nothing to scoff at guys!!!
Nice to see you piggy-backing of the saviors thread for attention.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I point to this badposting by current CSM to point out just how bad things have gotten. The anti-sandbox, anti-emergent-gameplay, and I argue, anti-EVE players have been allowed to "represent" us? No wonder high sec is in decay, in its rotting corruption CSM bites the hand that feeds it, for it is emergent gameplay which gave birth to election and their player council positions. For shame.
I don't agree with Trebor, but I can see his side of the argument. Issler is another deal, there is no argument, simply contempt for player action. Oh saviour we need thee to deliver us from this evil!!! James 315-á-áis the only pro-sandbox candidate running for CSM 8. Resist the theme-park invasion from dying MMOs like WoW! Keep the only sandbox MMO alive! Vote 315 4 CSM8!!! |

James 3:15 can probably do a infinitely better job of writing speeches that is for sure. But what else does he offer?
But who knows, I am sure some players will come to his future CSM thread, for the baptism and to receive the salvation that only he has. I will go for the speeches and drama, and its fifty fifty if I learn something.

Don't particularly care about James 315 or his minions, don't particularly feel inclined to vote for him, either.
But seriously, Issler, you have about as useful on the CSM as a dingleberry hanging from a dog's keister.
The sooner your time wasting space on the CSM is over and you are out of there, the better. Nothing Personal - Just Business...

Pretty rude speech for a CSM. I know one thing for certain: You will never see James' talk to people like this. And frankly, while we're on the subject, I have never seen you represent anything in the CSM, let alone Hi-Sec. Hi-Sec needs a CSM rep with Courage, Dignity and Conviction. In these dark and trying times we need a man of action to represent our interests and protect the sanctity of our sandbox. That man is James 315 and his time is now. 315 for CSM 8! |
