Originally by: sallyr i have mixed feelings about the missile nerf
on the one hand yesterday i fired 4 torps at a stationary pod . . . it got it into half armor, now if thats realistic then ill eat my scorp . . but its not is it, the torp is like a nuke, now what happens to a rabbit if a nuke falls on it?
what happens to a rabbit if a nuke falls a mile away . . . THE SAME AS RIGHT ON TOP
in both cases u get a lovely char grilled rabbit.
now before the whole point in torps were that u could out run them, u could out run them in a battle ship for flips sake and just pick off the missile boat from long range.
but now rather then out running them you just dont do damage with them
oh and dont say well i do the same amount of damage with a large turret because u dont
large turrets = x7 or x8 of them
torps = max of 6
natural rate of fire of turrets normaly around 9-10 seconds obviously changes from turret to turret
natural rate of fire of a missile launcher 24 seconds!
that means damage per sec asuming what u said of 45 dmg
turrets: 8*5/9= 40:1 damage per second ratio missiles: 6*45/24= 11.25:1 damage per second ratio

Love the analogy, but how many ships are fuzzy? I'd like to think of them more like cochroaches(sp?) and whether you drop a nuke right on top of them or a mile a way... they still have a chance to survive. Also just train the missle skills us already sally, jeeze. You won't be hitting for the uberwtfpwnage that you are used to over a week ago, but that's right like turrets... you'd have to actually use a little variety (or smaller support ships) in your fleets. I'm sorry I don't see any World powers launching a nuke to fry a terrorist deer anywhere just because they can. No they send in troops (which happen to be smaller than a nuke mind you) because they are small and more efficient/less costly to kill said animals.

HEH, that was funny....just to clarify. If you drop a nuke on a roach, or a was away...the roach WILL die. Its the fallout and radiation/nuklear winter a roach can live through, not a nuclear explosion. "In war, there is no prize for the runner up." Einstein |
