Instead of just saying this is another whine thread, I will attempt to explain to the original poster how the nerf bat swings round and round.
Now I haven't been here from the begining, but I'll post what I know from my time in-game.
First - oversized AB on frigs was a valid tatic for frigate pilots to avoid the missiles that were spamed at them. Missiles trajectory was not predective, and it was not uncommon to see 20 missiles trailing behind a frigate. Although balanced from a frigate perspective, as offensive capabilites was limited do to cramming a 10 MN AB on, it overpowered cruisers in the same regard. Thus the nerf bat swung.
Second - After the oversize AB nerf, frigates were left with the option of using a MWD to attempt to outrun missiles. But missile AI was changed to be predective. Instetad of training a frigate (or other ship) it now met the ship in its flight path. Thus the WTFPWN Raven was born. This ship could handle anything, no matter the speed with torps. Although trops were specfically designed to deal damage to BS and structures. This was a sad day in all frigate pilots lives.
Third - The missiles changes go live, and everyone that had never set foot on the forums (which would have told them about the changes when they were announced and invited to the test server to test them) are running around talking about how the game is ruined and the sky is falling. Frigate pilots rejoice at once again being able to serve their tackling role, without the fear of a torp spamming Raven killing them.
Now all pod pilots are equal, in that they must setup their ship due to the circumstances they may find themselves in. Although I have not the skills, it is my understanding from the feedback during the missile testing that once all the new skills are trained up, a Raven should still be 90% as effective as it was before the patch. Now a Raven pilot has to choose a loadout, or heaven forbid, use its drone bay to take care of smaller ships.
As per your statement that a BS can't fight a frig, nothing is preventing you from mounting assualt launchers to your Raven. Read their description. Something along the lines of dealing with smaller ship classes and mountable by larger ships.
WTF is this???? a well thought out intelligent post that actually explains to a player that hasnt been around since beta what has occured ingame thus far? Isnt that one of the signs of the apocolypse when someone actually trieds to explain something and enlighten someone instead of griefing them and calling them a whiner? hats off to you bro. I am amarr and I usually fly amarr ships but even I dont think they were fair in this swing of the nerf bat. I have seen it all, i remember when amarr ruled and then they nailed us. then came the minmatars turn to get ganked when they thrashed the tracking speed of projectiles. What comes around goes around so I guess everyone has recieved thier punishment since they mad railguns pretty lame when they hit the minnies. All I can say to you missle boat pilots is you had your time in the sun, adapt and overcome. and for the ones who said learn the advanced missle skills get yourself a missle boat before you start preaching about the test server and reading patch notes for weeks on end to try and keep up with the constant changes because unfortunatly alot of the people that play eve have jobs and dont sit in mommys basement playing games all the time or have cushy I.T. jobs that allow 60+ hours of game time a week. We have run several different raven vs. ceptor setups and the ceptor more than holds its own even agianst players withthe new missle skills trained to lvl 3 and 4. experienced ceptor pilot 4tw.
