Hey!
Is it possible to run two seperate Eve Sessions on one Windows XP machine (given that one owns 2 accounts of course). It was possible with Earth & Beyond (a mmorpg from EA) by running the game twice with a seperate admin user each. Anyone tried that with Eve?
Thanks :)

I currently run 2 eve accounts on one computer and yes it is a great help but I do experience some lag - typically when pirates appear. Fine for hauling though.
My comp spec is - Gateway P3 750, Geforce graphic, 512Mb SDRAM RAM with tiscali broadband. I run Windows XP with a 20Gb harddrive - about 5GB used.
I have just brought extra memory to take me to 1024Mb but would be interested in cost effective solutions to improve my comp.
All suggestions appreciated, Dol
Ps Planning a wedding so even ú600 for a new comp is not an option. Small hideable :) purchase solutions will be most well received.

I do this all the time without any issues.
I run a P4 3GHZ with 1GIG of RAM, and a Radion 9700 tho. --------------------------------------- CSM Chat Log September 25, 2003: Fuhry> Some things we simply cannot test, and therefore we just put it on Tranq. cross our fingers and then get into panic m |

I can get two sessions of Eve running on one computer, as long as both characters are inside a space station. When one character goes out into space, however, one of the sessions tends to crash. Because of this, I just use 2 separate computers and that works a lot better for me.

When I double log I have to hae two separate installs on eve on the computer to get it to work. I think that if you run the same install there will be file locks causing problems between the processes. _________________________________________________________

I found that there is no file lock conflicts when running two eve instance from the same directory. However, both eve instance use the same ini file and this cause problem with contactlist / autopilot / bookmarks and other stuff related to the prefs.ini file.
The solution I am using is to have two separate eve folder, who share the large .stuff files by using a NTFS 5.0 feature, hard links. http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/fileio/base/createhardlink.asp

I occasionally run two clients at the same time on one machine, but do have the problem where one (the non-foreground one) will crash. If I minimize the background session, I'm generally OK.

I am having problems running 2 accounts in different directories. One always crashes and its very frustrating. I have a AMD 1700+, 1gig ddram, windows xp, and geforce4 ti4400 128mb. I have run 2 accounts on other games I just can not here.
A buddy of mine runs two and had a similar video card as mine and said he had to switch to geforce4 440mx se 128 to run 2 accounts but very laggy. I dont see why I should have to downgrade video cards to run 2 accounts. Any help would be appreciated. I have also tried different nvidia drivers to see if they work and the past 3 do not.

try turning off the "sun is occluded by ships" option, as well as the radar and trails. use windowed mode ONLY on both, and use "fullscreen" view without the interlacing. This seems to work best for me.

I have half your ram and a 1600+ AMD and a G-Force Ti4400 128 card on XP. So far I don't have a problem but I havn't been in the same space at the same time yet.
As far as diferent directories I don't have a clue. I have both installed in one CCP folder but I created an EVE2 folder to install into so they have their own cache ,pref ini. etc.
What classifies as a directory over a folder?
All are in the programs folder.

What i do is have 2 computers, but i use a monitor switch that uses one keyboard mouse and monitor to control. Lag of course is nonexistent since they are on seperate computers. Beware the Spoons |

Using multiple accounts is no problem for mining, but I have noted some odd behaviours when in windowed mode and using the Trillian IM software: namely that if any Trillian windows at all are open (not necessary focused), you'll experience supreme lag. This does not appear to go for IE, but I don't know the story on other browsers/IM apps.
But generally, it kicks ass.
