I have no idea how big the dust community currently is, but i'm going out on a limb here and say it's something of 15000 daily logins (this is a conservative estimate), with some 1000 people online at any given time, and 500ish people in battle at any given time.
Anyway, it's a fairly sizeable amount for an (open) beta.
Currently battles are restricted to 16-16 matchups, but i believe it would be viable to increase this limit to 32-32 already.
Now I know this was already planned, but my question is, when will this be implemented?
On a slightly related note, I do not feel opposed to having battles for planets on giant maps with no limit to the participants (think something along the lines of planetside). Eve never had a limit to people who could be in a battle, I see no reason why dust should have it. (except for tiny maps where people would just spawn and die every second :D, which while hilarious, is somewhat counter-intuitive)

Eve handles it fairly well.

There is a slight scale difference between eve and dust, and the 1000+ battle are only really possible now thanks to TiDi...
However much slow mo cinematics are sweet, when a sniper has 5min to line up a shot... that just isnt cool - Nulla Curas |

I don't think we will be seeing battles with unlimited number of people in Dust cause I doubt the ps3 can handle it and it will be laggy as heck...I play planetside2 aswell and there is a limit to the amount of players on each continent which is 2000 now all 2000 characters can play on the same hex but there will be tons of lag and you will be going at 5 fps.
And Eve has a limit to how many people can be on the field since there is a limit to how many people can be in a system before its locked down for example when the goons invaded jita there was like 4000-5000 people in the system but no one else could get in cause the gate was locked.
So even though you can have a 4000-5000 pilot fleet battle but the lag will be ridiculous. |

I'll repeat: I didn't say I want it now. Just something to consider for the future.

as a new player to the eve universe and a reg on the ps 3 we had mag with was 256 players at one time and it was an epic game. with a lot of what dust 514 has now it shouldn't be that hard to get it up and running . I think it would be a benefit a lot of eve player in the high sec and low sec to be able to put boots on the ground. on outpost and in ship to carry out covert ops corp I.E. espionage and the like. this my 2 cents. ps if you need that type of corp . |

Due to a small bug we have played a few live 64 player matches they went well and provided decent data to the devs. they have confirmed an increase to 48 player matches minimum next build, which should be out soon.
as to players you are underestimating it by a fair field. we have over 1m created and active mercs atm, saidly I can't give you concurent user stats as that is not public info atm, and we don't know. but I'd say a fair estimate is in the 30k to 45k users |

when enough people have ps4's to make the battles possible client-side
Edit: I remember ccp saying at the last fanfest that they had run tests on the ps3 with 64 player battles, however they didn't say much about how stable the game ran with such numbers on the ps3. |

More interestingly is if DUST will go the way of non-even battles like Eve.
I can see some folks only able to field 40 while some could field the district max of 64 when these numbers start to get on up there.
...or timezone games where you wait till only the 10 man corp is on district and desroy them by jumpng into that district with 30 of your high geared folks. |
