Just a couple of quick questions about wreckers.
1 is the damage bonus 400% or 500% (i've heard both Numbers thrown about and can't remember which is which)
2. How often do they Occur? I've heard you will have a wrecker every 100 shots or so. I seem to get a lot of them (somedays I get 2 in a row, rarely I get three with a full load of ammo).

I'm not sure on the damage part, but how often they occur is around 1% over an extended period of time. I have a pretty good combat log from shooting a POS for a few hours. I wrecked 1% of the time with 280 II's, sitting still, at optimal. Of course, there may be a few overlapping shots that never showed up as I was half asleep, but trying to stagger my shots to get them all in the log.
Pretty much every combat log I have, it's close to the 1% mark from a variety of different guns. It's still random, so you may see more than 1 over 100 shots, but stretch that out over 1000+, 5000+, 10,000+ shots and it'll start to average out to approximately 1 in 100. ---------------------------------------------- V I R I I News and KMS --> http://virii.homeip.net

I've been told that wrecking shots are 300% damage, and it sounds about right.

It is.
So it goes (total ammo dmg)x(weapon dmg multiplyer)x3, that will give you a very accurate max wrecking hit on hull.

3x for wrecking, 2x for inflicting.

The wierd thing is that wreckings don't appear to use the same combat 'roll' as normal hits. It seems to me that even though weather an attack hits is based on transversal velocity, but a different combat roll is done to determine what kind of a hit it is. But it seems to me that the damage roll is always conducted regardless if an attack hits or not. If it misses natrually the damage determined by the roll isn't applied, but wreckings seem to be exempt from this. I truly hate this fact, because you can be orbiting an arty tempest in an inty and take a 2000 damage wrecking, even though your transversal is 9812374.

If thats true then an old bug has slipped back in, because I remember them specifically changing it from a 1% chance on any shot to a 1% chance on any hit in a patch a long time back. . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

IT IS NOT A FIXED PERCENTAGE!
It is whenever you succeed your attack calculation by a margin greater then 3 standard deviations.
Or in other words a 1/100 chance in normal conditions but you can increase your chance of wrecking by improving your calculation (Webber, tracking comps painter, etc_

Actually, I've heard something about what Branmuffin was saying, that it actually had to do with the amount of damage you get and statistics.
It makes sense as well, seeing as how if you target paint a station enough you can wreck almost every hit.

I agree with branmuffin. I get loads of wrecking shots (well, more than usual) when I attakc a Serp Stronghold, but I only get them extremely rarely in combat against moving targets

if thats right then a 300% increase in dmg is 4x not 3x, when you increase 100% you got 2x, thus 300% would be 4x but i think it is 200% dmg increase = 3x =) My Sig:
