Okay, hmm, I'm not sure which misconception in this thread to address first.......
Pirates. The only place in 0.0 you find real pirates is in the NPC regions such as Curse and Pure Blind. By pirates I mean groups like SNIGG that ask for a ransom and don't just kill indiscriminately.
Market. Okay, let me explain this as simply as I can. Many dedicated PvPers have carebear alts, and soem PvP corps ahve entire carebear alt corps. Often there is no known connection between the PvPers and their alts, for obvious reasons. Therefore, if would be VERY easy for a group of alts to move into a region, posing as people who wanted to populate the market. They could then ship in armaments and even build ships for a future invasion. This is the exact reason ASCN is very hesitant to allow anyone in our space to populate our market.
Also, if there is a well populated market, especially in conquerable stations, what often happens is that a group moves in, takes the station, then buys everything on the market and puts it back up for a highly inflated price. I've seen this firsthand.
Yes, most 0.0 groups kill all neutrals. Happens for 2 main reasons: 1) Neutral = unknown hostility. Unfortunately, Eve has become such a twitch game that if you spend time trying to find out your standing with a neutral, you will either be dead or the neutral will have run away. It is much easier to shoot first and ask questions later.
2) Most alliances feel, including ASCN, that you have no right to be in a given area of space if you haven't fought and died to defend it.
Also, historicaly, any alliance that is friendly to neutrals has hever been very successful.
I see a lot of whinig about people who are afraid of 0.0 for various reasons, most of which are very stupid. Avoiding getting ganked requires only a little intelligence and patience.
Implants are not the be-all-and-end-all. Hell, I've played for over 14 months and never once has a set of implants, nor do I wish to.
You don't need a battleship to live in 0.0. Join up with a group of people, and often you can get in an industrial and haul, or go out and mine with a group in a cruiser or barge because there is BS protection. Oh, and the person that says barges are not feasible is an imbecile. I know people that live in 0.0 7 days a week, and fly nothing but barges and indys. There is a place in 0.0 for everyone.
Okay, I've rambled enough. Maybe if someone makes some semi intelligent (read: something that requires more than the brain of an ape) arguments I'll curse you with more pointless drivel.
