Ok, so I was running a level 2 mission in my rupture, no problem I do them all the time. I get to the first level of the deadspace complex and its drones, fairly easy and I'm through in a minute. Second level is a bunch of mercenary fighters and elite fighters. So I head up and take out the group at the gate first, then begin to move towards the next group. About 30 seconds later two elite fighters respawn a the gate and start spamming me with light missles. I turn back and blow them up at range and then go back towards the other group. 30 seconds later, just as I aggro the other group, the same stupid spawn happens AGAIN and I'm caught between two different sources of flaming death and am forced to flee with my armor in shambles.
Are mercenaries supposed to respawn at such a high rate that a cruiser cannot do a DS mission or is it just to spite me? I can't remember the exact name of the mission but it was for Brutor Tribe, level 2, multistage DS.

It's probably silence the informant, one of the worst missions you can get, and I turn it down whenever I can. Ships spawn at a painfully high rate at that gate, and even in a cruiser, they spawn almost as fast as you kill them. You just gotta bear it, kill everything not at the gate, then go back, kill them, and hop into the gate before more spawn. Or turn it down when it's offered. |

Well, I was using a Cruiser when doing this mission...which is correct, 'Silent the Informant'. I know they spawn fast, what I suggest you to do is kill the first group first then move on to the other groups slowly while getting ready to kill those Frigs which respawn again. It is harder than usual but the trick is this...DON'T use heavy launchers at all. The best damage to deal this rats are Assault Launchers.
Keep killing those rats that respawns until everyone is cleared then activate your last gate :)

Ignore the ships at the gate, they re-spawn really fast.
Try to got round them and take the furthest away rats, then work back towards the gate. Kill the gate rats and jump to the next level. None of the other groups re-spawn, only the bunch by the gate.

Is this only a feature of the L2 version? I've never experienced quick-spawning ships in the L3.

You must have been too effective then I never saw respawn rates on lvl 2 or 3 as a problem.

Personally I like 'silence the informant'. The residence you can blow up at the end by the informant frequently drops some expensive cargo expanders or implants.

Its not worst mission, it is best standing mission, and it doesnt take much time , just have 1x mar t2, 2x thermic hardeners and go ahead and tank 10 merc and 5 elites and stuff and kill them

I've seen the Respawn in L3 "Silence the Informant", but, it wasn't a problem. They were Guristas Despoilers and Infiltrators(obviously the Guristas Mission). With Guided Missile 3 and Target Nav 3 with 3 BCS's installed, these small frigs usually go down with 1 or 2 Cruise Missiles or Torpedoes when they are at least 20 to 25KM away from my Raven. If closer, you'll need drones or lots of missiles/torps.
On the L2's pre-patch, the respawn was there. Then, two rats would respawn nearly as quickly as I could kill them and start moving to the other rat groups. I would 'high-tail it' to the farthest group with an AB.. the gate rats couldn't keep up.
"Silence the Informant" L2 or L3 isn't a real problem and is always fun. However, "Silence the Informant" L4 introduces a whole new level of aggression. I have a post on the Missions about this L4 mission. I'm still grappling with it. =/

I used to like the lv2 version is silence used to do it in a destroyer so a cruiser should have no probs, i was very upset that when you get to lv3 the residance drops nothing, you get better loot in the lv2 version

Edited by: Sturgis on 19/07/2005 03:05:05 I've done this one (level 2) several times. Did it today in a Blackbird, in fact. The second level is a bit of a pain, but I just kill them when I warp in (you usually cant avoid their aggro). Then move on to the other groups one by one, and also deal with the respawns as they occur. Just let the respawns come to you - because they will aggro and do just that.
It's a good mission for hardwires, I've found. Today, I looted 2 'Deadeye' hardwires from the residence, and the time before that there were 3 hardwires (Gnome, Noble, and Gunslinger I believe).

When you jump through 2nd gate fly a bit at right direction. Use AB to lower chances of beeing locked down by first group near 3thd gate. If you pass them go after further group (3 fighters+3 rookies). On your way finish those 2 elite fighters. And just before you go after group by the 3thd gate finish those 3 ship above you (1 elite fighter + 2 fighters).
If spawn (3thd gate) group see you and go after you soon as you jumped through, do the same procedure but finish that 4 ships flying TOWARD last group and AWAY from 3thd gate. You wont lose much time since respawners will be on further distance later so you shouldnt have some problems. But if your cap skills are not to good try to finish last group (3+3) than 2 elite, and then elite + 2 fighters so next jumping all you would need to do is kill first group near gate (MAX of 4 ships allways)

I love that mission, the fast respawning elite thingy drops cool loot every time he respawns, and in my harpy I have no trouble whatsoever killing it in under 5 seconds...

silence the informant missions rule, great standings, decent loot, good bounties, and easy prey (given you have the time)
just shoot them if they r out of yr range, even if it doesnt hit, they agro and come to you
(an im pretty sure iv activated that gate with a hostile shooting me after spawning) _____________________________ Honor Glory And Strength! Honor Above Self Glory For Self Strength Of Self
