All of what he said still fits quite nicely with the "Save highsec" message.
His proposed changes would save it from stagnation and bots/bot aspirants running rampant.
"Save" doesn't necessarily mean make more profitable or more safe.

If you try to force people into it it won't turn out to well for CCP. I have have been out to Null/Low Sec and the economy sucks in both. Trade hubs don't really and the systems with the exception of a few are near empty.
It's not forcing anyone to do anything, but putting meaningful consequences (noticeably lower income) on their decision to live solely in highsec seems like an ok idea to me. The trade off (lower rewards for more safety) has to be balanced, right now it isn't. |

Whether it is PVE, PVP, or Trading, and whatever else takes place in high sec. You think think it sucks now when it comes to finding what you need. Wait till every High sec industrialist, and trader quits. Risk vs Reward is the biggest lie about this game no matter CCP does. Not that CCP will listen to someone as freaking ******** as James315. Best way to kill EVE is to kill High Sec.
Yeah and part of what he touches upon relates to that. Highsec shouldn't be the "life blood" when it comes to mining certain materials, or when it comes to manufacturing. Those things should be viable elsewhere. |

if you want the carebears to go to null/low more, just maybe consider stopping camping ever other gate and killing everyone instantly?
oh wait its EVE thats never gonna happen, in that case i support the nerfing of highsec until its impossible to make any money and then shoot them all until they ragequit and EVE loses a few hundred thousand carebears and the null/low sec hardcore PVP guys will finally be happy
The vast vast majority of lowsec gates aren't camped, don't deliberately misrepresent the state of things in order to bolster your own arguments. There's a few notable ones that have lots of pirates and camps, but they're the minority by a large margin. |

Miner A is ATK, in a tanky Skiff, aligned and mining away. Does he HAVE to pay the fee....I'd say no. We're likely not going to get him. The 10mil indulgence isn't "for" this person. This miner is playing with others and reacting to the game.
Miner B is in a failfit Retty with cargo expanders (I've seen it too much), tabbed out to youtube, sitting on the warp-in. Are we going to get him? Darn skippy we will. This miner is playing singleplayer in a MMOG.
Remarkably, Miner A tends to be the one who pays the permits. He "gets" EVE. Miner B is the one we see whinging on the forum about griefing and extortion and OMG it's not FAIR!
In all honesty, I'd rather a million Miner A's not paying the permit and playing the game with us, than one Miner B paying for a permit. Well, Areola, that's what you get. The sandbox that the New Order is "saving" is a double-edged sword. You get people who have playstyles that frequently involve interacting with others, and you get people like Miner B. Now in a TRUE sandbox, both are perfectly legit playstyles. ANY playstyle is legit in a TRUE sandbox. This is why I have a love-hate relationship with the New Order. I love that they encourage ATK play. I hate the fact that they trash and harass solo players while at the same time praising the sandbox nature of Eve, which allows solo play in the first place. It just comes off as hypocrisy to me. To me, Eve is not an MMO. It is a sandbox. There are too many solo options for me to consider this an MMO.
The only "solo play" EVE allows is ship-spinning in noob ships. Anything else at all involves other players. Buy another ship to shipspin with? Well someone else had to manufacture that. You also reduced the number of that ship available to other players to purchase by one. Mining? You deplete asteroids other people may have used. Sell the minerals? You affect the prices of minerals, and ships and modules for everyone else. Etc.
There is no solo in EVE. |
