If you're just now noticing this... you're probably a noob to online gaming. EVE was Ultima Online ported into space, with a little bit of EverQuest sprinkled in for flavor.
/Has been playing online RPGs for literally 20 years.... its all the same. UO was the only unique one... which is probably why I like EVE |

How about some avatar improvements as Posted on 2012.04.22 19:50?
What we got since then is:
- fixed the bra strap bug - half-assed delivery and later abandonment of unreleased NEx items - and they f****** removed my skin color! CCP Unifex: -á"lurking single players (...)-áare the majority of characters on Tranquility"
...And so now we know why CCP hasn't done anything for soloers since Apochrypha. |

Removing a secondary bonus of one of the most used mods in EVE is way different than removing resists. Your tears are delicious though. |

ITT: People compare MMO's and get shocked at the similarities.
It's not the mechanics that make it unique it's the setting and the sandbox. Not that most people know what the sandbox means. Malcanis for CSM 8 https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=192717 \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ m8m8m8m8m8m8m8 o7

I've been playing EVE for just over half a year. I've played my share of MMOs and I've never met a more hostile player base than EVE's. Mostly it's all this 'give me your tears' ****. But whatever. I'm a bastard, and EVE is a game for bastards trying to be the biggest bastard. I'm fine with that.
The OP's point is that EVE isn't special, you aren't special, and you should quit now and give me your stuff. You damn space ship flying loser. "The sandbox" that EVE touts is bullshit. It's just as much a sandbox as any other MMO out there, which is to say you can do anything you want, within the mechanics of the game. EVE just has a larger than usual number of assholes trying to get everyone else to play 'the sandbox' the way said assholes want.
The ONLY difference is that the damned skill training system is a unique way to suck up subscription monies. I mean, it's a unique way to force people to have multiple accounts to be effective. I mean, it's a unique way to offer legitimatized real world money trading through PLEX to run multiple accounts by using in game money. I mean, it's a unique way for 'vets' to rub their balls in new players faces and ***** about "instant gratification" and "have your cake and eat it to" bullshit. EVE players love this ****. Like I said, I'm fine with it. But let's call it what it is. |

To OP: Of course EVE uses similar mechanics like other MMOs. It's not the wheel reinvented. Congratulations for finding this out.
Regarding you mana example: Cap boosters take a lot of space, more than your average MMOs mana potions, I'd assume. So it's not really just "who brings more of them", because the amount you can bring is very limited. It's also not guaranteed that the one with the most cap boosters wins the fight. There are a lot more things to consider. |

eventually you will find other assholes who will hate the same things you do, and you will join them in the joyful act of making everyone else play "the sandbox" the way you want. you will ask for other peoples stuff, bacon, and their delightful tears. you will claim the game is not like it used to, even when you weren't there to begin with, and you will make a weekly stealth "nerf highsec" thread.
