He was definatly my favorite character from TOS, even though I never watched it much. From what I've heard he was a great guy too, he'll be missed
I'm on board with the renaming idea, there's 5000 systems out there I'm sure just one can be renamed in tribute. Small things like this really go a long way to making a game stand out from the rest.

Rest in peace James Doohan.
It would be great if CCP could do something ingame in memory, I can still remember looking at the stars as a kid in wonder because of Mr Doohan and the rest of the cast, I guess thats where my love of Sci-Fi started.

Now that is sad.
Scotty was my favorite character from that series. You could tell he was a good guy too. |

Quote: Doohan's wartime experiences were every bit as hair-raising as his fictional fights with the Klingons.
As a captain in the Royal Canadian Artillery Regiment, he lost a finger on the first morning of the D-Day landings in Normandy.
He then saw a tank, which was carrying his substantial winnings from a cross-Channel card school, blown to pieces before his eyes.
Besides this, his aerobatic exploits, which included nearly crashing his aircraft in Holland while taking "a look" at a German U-boat, earned him the title of "the craziest pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force".
He was both an artillery captain and in the airforce?

What do you think?
Implant "Scotty AI" gives 5% to all engineering functions
I like to think the last thougths scotty had were "scoty to god 1 to beam up"
"god to scotty, standby, i have u in the pattern buffer waiting for the focusing crystals to align".

Having seen 'Star Trek' when it first came out and having seen him at the university I was attending in the 70's I will always remember him fondly.
I did hear that James Doohan's ashes will be sent into space later this year. That is a befiting tribute to him.

Thanks for the memories.

A sad day for the Sci-fi community, james Doohan will be sorely missed as probably one of the most lovable and level headed people ever to grace our screen.
My thoughts to his family and friends, RIP James.
A fitting Tribute that he joins Gene Roddenberry in space.

A sad day for all of us, and i agree that the dev's should do something as a tribute to this great man who will have inspired some of the dev's.
I'll probably miss it if its an event unless its held at the weekend, although i am rather keen on the naming a system after him idea, would stand out and would also be there for anyone to see if they wanted, maybe they could create like a memorial stone or something and have it sitting in system.
