Seeing what's at stake for naga and seeing they are a corp of public interest there only chance of defence is to make a public statement.
Better this way then living with the rumors and accusations prolly presented and going around without a chance to defend themself (and prolly suffering economically and reputationwise from it).

They have a hidden agenda. Especially as they are hanging out in 0.0 more now they are causing friction between entities. I know that the Imperial Republic of the North is allowing them to mine... I always thought NAGA cherished its neutral status- and that was 1 of their major selling points and most people therefore wouldn't shoot them out of respect.
However when they start using alt corps to mine in alliance owned space, its just asking for trouble as most corps won't have set standings towards the unknown alt corps of NAGA.
They are -10 with ATUK now anyway so more targets to shoot at
By posting this disptue on the public forums (which could have been easily solved privatly), its just
another example of how NAGA thinks its more powerful than it really is and that it takes the vast majority of support from the eve community for granted.
Frankly, I wouldnt put it past them to pay another corp to do their dirty work.
