Hello everyone, My name is Garramon and I play EVE. You may have seen me here once or twice, shot me once or twice or died by my blasters once (never killed the same person twice ).
The views I am about to express may be unique to this conversation. This may even get me hunted down, or provide some form of weakness about our group:
I am a member of the Vertigo Coalition. We are a group of corporations of about 20 active players each. We are not an official alliance, and do not have any sort of governing doctrine or anything like that. We live in 0.0 space.
Not all of our corporations are in the same area. The VC was created to give information to other corps who wish to be able to get info about an area where some of our operatives may be. We do not work together on a daily, or even weekly basis. I think this puts us into a different group than the alliances. We are the rouge elements.
Point 1: Territory claims are not proportional to claimer size. A small corp cannot claim a small amount of space because as soon as someone bigger comes along you are dead. All that matters is how quickly the larger group can get there. And let me say that although the map makes it easier, it in no way stops our forces from finding people in "un-blobbed" systems (< 30 min).
Take a look at history. Many small (but powerful) civilizations have conquered and claimed HUGE areas. This has been done with an exhibition of power, and the people in those areas DO SUBMIT to their new rulers. If you do not agree you have two options: die or live as a rouge.
Point 1a: Everyone plays this game for personal profit. If alliances openly let neutrals into their space encouraging an open market, the neutrals instead will abuse the area and take all of their profitable goods to empire, which does didly squat for the alliance.
Point 2: Small corps can survive in 0.0 space, but should be prepared for the risks. Tip 1 is to make friends. More friends = more info. Tip 2 is to spread across plenty of space. Gathering in one area causes reason for the ruling factions to take note of your presence in their territory.
Point 3: The big PvP alliances of course want NPC stations removed. If rouges have nowhere to dock, rouges can't be around. However, this is not very realistic. There are plenty of places to dodge the prying eyes of emperors IRL, so why take away our only options in the game? Think of NPC stations as the underground of a civilization.
Point 4: Dont make a big deal out of where you live (aww..crap). There is no reason to invite more attention to yourself than necessary.
Point 5: Keep losses minimal, but make every fight count. Earning respect can go a long way in this game.
Hmm, I'd say thats good enough for now. Interested in hearing comments. ( o/ DeGrand ) ------------------------------------------------ Garr.....amon |
