Hi,
I was wondering about the eye sugar this would be. They had been planned for EXODUS, but seem to have dissapeared (ie, no news from them at all).
Are they not planned anymore? For Kali? After that? Soon(TM)?
Thanks :)

I think they did do them for exodus but they said they had t remove them as they did'nt work properly, no idea if they are still planned, my guess is though if one day they think they can do them properly then they'll still do them.

Look back in the dev blog archives when they started to mention Cosmos. They said these would include system wide roid belts and commets as part of the whole new environments testing and adding unique features to different constelations.
Lets see how it goes on in time. I would imagine there are lag issues for making ever inch of a system inhabited by an asteroid field. ------

I very much doubt this. Of the millions of grid's in each system, only a few of them are ever active - the ones where players or NPCs are. In the same way, sections of an asteroid system will only be active when they have been visited.

Maybe they'll implement mining complexes in empire space along with extra hostile rats, I'm looking for the complex/mission mix of Rouge Drone Infestation, the rats will drop lots of alloys. With the field comprised of the four rarest minerals.
Faulty testing kept me from delivering the "Logic Editor" earlier.
I was using my own post and it kept blanking everything out.

Actually, it's possible to do in a similar way to "freelancer", you know, distance fogging, roids being created "on the fly" but only a few fixed roids being use-able. I expect a true system-wide asteroid belt, given the density required, would be a bit of a lag fest to say the least.

I don't see it as a lag fest, it can only display all the roids in a single grid at a time anyway. It'd be more of a hit on the DB, since each roid would need its own DB entry (I would imagine).
I would settle for some hidden belts that you need scan probes to find...

That would be rather interesting. Have semi regular roid spawn of mid-high end minerals in higher sec systems. Could make for some interesting Mining / Pirating... (yes I said Pirating not gate camping ) "SHOW US YOUR HOOTERS!" - traditional greeting at the Annual Owl Fanciers Convention
