This may have been answered a million times already.. but...
Even wont fit completly on my screen.. Specs: 50 inch widescreen, ATI X850 video card connected via DVI.. With the latest ATI Catalyst drivers.
While Windows displays properly in 1152x648 or 1280x720 eve will not. If I set eve to use full screen, it just automatically picks 640x480 and wont let me adjust it.. If I tell eve to use window mode, it picks my current resolution. But, the bottom 1/4 of the screen is chopped off.
It's making it nearly impossible to play the game, becuase 640x480 is way too closet fealing... and not having the bottom 1/4 of the screen doesnt give me access to changing the ships speed or the ability to undock from stations.

I also forgot to add, yes I have tried selecting the wide screen button inside of eve.. This has little to no affect on my problem.

EVE *cannot* use 640x480--its minimum is 1024x768. So you're wrong here somewhere already.
But the easiest thing to do is set it to full screen, and then set it to whatever resolution you want.
Or, you can set it to windowed (which is more reliable) and drag the top bar up so it looks exactly like full screen.
Also, I would suggest against using a TV to play EVE, even an HDTV one, if only due to the tiny chat fonts

I do not want to play eve in 640x480... lol.. It only does this in full screen mode. My resolution is currently set at 1152x648, but eve automatically picks 640x480 when i change it to full screen mode. And it wont let me select any other resolution.
If i use window mode, it will pick my current 1152x648 resolution, but it chops off the bottom 1/4 of the page.
In any of the modes it does not allow me to change it from 640x480 in full screen mode. Or 1152x648 in window mode.

I'm slightly confused because there can be two resolutions you can be talking about: the Windows desktop can have its own resolution, and EVE can have its own (hit ESC, go to the Graphics tab, and you can set it there).
Now, I'm not sure which ones you're using when. I'm guessing that the shape of your screen doesn't quite fit the resolutions EVE supports (there's a pull-down menu in that Graphics tab listing them all) and things get chopped off.
Your best bet probably is to switch EVE to the highest resolution that fits inside your screen, and play in windowed mode.
1152x648 desktop... EVE has 1024x768 (that'll fit horizontally but you'll lose 100 pixels vertically) or 1152x864 (also fits horizontally but you lose 200 pixels vertically), so no good.
You're saying that setting the desktop at 1280x720 and EVE to 1280x720 does not work?
EDIT: the "Wide Screen" checkbox doesn't have anything to do with resolutions; it simply adds a black bar at the top and bottom of the screen to simulate a "cinematic wide-screen" look for those of us with normal PC monitors. Similar to letterbox or wide-screen options for DVD's these days.

Thanks for the replies thus far.
I would select a different resolution, but there are no resolution options in the eve drop down list. In full screen, the only resolution in the list is 640x480.. In windowed mode, there is only 1 resolution in the list, my current resolution.
I am thinking this is an eve issue since all other games play fine.

It should work with Full Screen + one of the 1280 x "###". Both of those options are under the Graphics tab of the menu when you press Esc in EvE.

No, its an issue with the output of the card for some reason only accepting 640x480 with the HDTV as the output when in overlay mode, thus forcing EVE to use a nonstandard resolution. Fool with the display settings.
