One of the things that kept me playing Eve (since retail) is that the players write Eve's history.
Politics, the shifting balance of power, corps and alliances that rise and fall, old scores to settle, it's not all about game mechanics by any means.
Some of the nerfs can be a pain at times, but can mostly be got around by trying out different approaches (I think CCP have had a few surprises with what some players come up with).
It's the open ended nature of Eve that makes it work, if it stays that way I think it will always have a good following.

If I were CCP, I'd be interested in two things, mainly.
1) Is our player retention rate healthy? (Are we keeping enough of the oldtimers? Are we losing too many of the new players?)
2) How many of our accounts are 'alt' accounts? (Money is money, but a game can only cannibalize the existing subscriber base so much.)
I'd say if player retention is acceptable and alt accounts are only a reasonable percentage of the current active, then the game should be doing fine. (Assuming they've recovered the initial investment.) |

Currently running 2 accounts without a problem and very smooth
Current setup is 3400 AMD 64, 1GB ram, 6800GT
I'm played a few other MMO's and yet i always cancel the sub to them after a few months , yet a year and a half in and my sub's still active and i cant see myself quiting anytime soon. And the biggest thing that keeps me coming back for more is the skill system, the single world, no instants, market (spamming WTB/WTS at the local cross roads is not what i call a market) eve is a world aheard in every aspect. i also havent seen or heard of anything thats onits way, that will come close to what eve is and what eve's going to be. so i would say eve future is bright --------

I played the other night with two accounts on a 1.2 Athlon 512mb RAM etc... etc... bleh bleh... was still very playable... wouldnt walk into a combat zone with it but still playable. This game needs nothing anywhere near the current generation of games, but still looks just as good and at very good performance.
On another note I had to stop playing Call of Duty as it was SOOO hard playing with two accounts on the same computer...

I can run 4 clients with an AMD64 3000 and X800XT all getting over 60fps...

i got 65+ FPS running single client, i aint bothered. 3Ghz P4, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, 1gig RAM
Quote: - The longer travel in empire does not serve any purpose other than making empire slow or dangerous. Just have a look at the map and the many low-sec systems and pod-kills.
more challenge does promote longetivity as its something your going to have to adapt with and overcome. Brings a big future in for escort runners and mercs as well as pirates. Its not just all haulers and miners y'know. Also serves the purpose of making people want to take more risk into going into 0.0 as some parts are quite safe
Quote: - So many new skills just consume time.
new skills means more advancement which means more future
Quote: - Missions were already screwed before the last patch. Where is the fun having to travel 1-2 jumps for your gimp mission?
adapt and dont rely on missions.
I mean honestly its as if you want less risk and more reward...the game isn't gonna be served to you on a silver platter when others have to go through abolute torment to secure good space and do what they enjoy. You can face NPC BSs with good bounties in perfect security in CONCORDs world. With mission reward, they're bonuses as well as bounties picked up AND loot. 0.0ers have to defend space from incursions of other PvPers/Pirates/Alliances, earn money from loot and bounties. Not guaranteed spawns unless its a complex which aren't many and far apart.
Besides the first problem which seems more of a technical problem on your end...everything else is just a whine from an empire agent runner who now has to run on a similar level of 0.0 survivors.
