Ava,
it all depends a little on your approach, your fighting style...
this is a good setup, though myself I prefer to put on 4 heavy beams and 2 medium beams for short range stuff. The meds combined with light missiles do a good job against frigs/webbing inties. The prophecy asks a little for a small drone army.

Stop flying stuff you arent competent to be in or you will lose it in embarrasing ways to lvl 3 missions.
Yea, shame on people for trying to do a level 3 missions with less than 3 years of training multiple level 5 skills Not everyone started at release

Ava...in some situations you should lose some time for changing setup DURING mission. And that depend what kind of aproach you use in your missions....but judging from heavy pulse lasers...you fight on closer distance. To bad is that those heavy pulse have biger power need than some focusad medium beams...and their fire rate is biger too. So, whit not much SP you got it might be a problem. Try focused medium beams weapons (if named, even better)...Prophecy is not very agile for close distance so you might stuck in danger situation and lose a ship...I did..:((
2nd stage of informer..I tried to killed wingman first (but its my tactics..from smaller toward bigger), and maybe elithe fighter....and then warp out to recharge (im also on low SP in gunnery). And then step by step.....BUT ITS NECCESARY...I REPEAT ,..Neccesary to have good music on your hifi...or you might become crazy after few warpouts .
Kas...I use to think of you as commited worker. But now as days are passing I see you as....

Blind have you ever posted a positive post? or have I just missed them all?
Yep you should stay in hanger do nothing in game till your at least 20mil skill points with perfect gunnery level 5 bs ect. Yes never try anything that is challenging for "YOUR" character or "YOUR" skill sets.

There is also something to be said for flying a ship that you have the apropiate support skills for. Just because someone is flying a BS does not mean that it is an effective ship for them.
In most cases newer players rush to BS, and do not have the supporting skills to fit it, or the skills for the modules that make it moderately effective. (I mean simple tech 1 modules, ie boosters, hardeners, webbers, etc..)
In eve, it is not the largest ship wins, there is more to the game then that. Eve requires balance across alot of skills, yes there are a lot of ways to specialize, but you still need a set of core skills in your main area (ie trade, combat, research).
In addition the basics that you learn flying any ship apply pretty much accross the board.
There is a lot of fun and challenge available without ever stepping into a BS.
Zwick
PS - it does get very frustrating listening to folks beak off about how they almost lost there BS to something that should not even challenge it. It also generally indicates that they are in a ship that they do not have the skills to be flying effectively yet.

Do Fine in a thorax, I use Anode Neutron blasters + 8 heavy drones. I like the closeup action and speed. I doubt you need a battleship for Level3

You're an idiot if you think that competence with a ship is in any way related to the number of lvl 5 skills you have.
He doesnt know how to fit a battleship, and he doesnt know how to fight NPCs with a battleship. Until he learns, he shouldnt be IN a battleship.

Well despite all the snobbish nonsense coming from some ppl - "if you're getting to hull then you shouldn't be flying a BS" - Well I'd like to say that while Rick is the one paying his monthly fee, he is entitled to play the game in any way he sees fit. Whether you think thats a good idea is your own opinion, which i don't believe he asked for in that regard.
Having said that a setup that has worked reliably on any level 3 mission i have tried thus far, without any real hassle is on my dominix:
Weapons : All Medium rails in highslots 10 Heavy Drones
Medium Slots: 1 x 100 MW Afterburner 4 x Cap recharger I
Low Slots: 1 x 1600 Steel plate 1 X Kinetic armour hardner 1 x Thermic 1 x Explosive 1 x Large Armor rep I 2 x Capacitor power relay I
Engineering skill as high as you can get it helps with this setup. Basically the key to this setup is a massive cap recharge ability. My domi has 4400 cap which recharges in under 300 secs. This means I can plow into the middle of any level 3 mission switch of the engines and let all the bad guys come to me, because I can run the 3 hardners and the armour repairer constantly. Remember with cap that it may seem to go down quickly at first - but the more empty it is the faster it recharges so it will break even at some point. I destroy targets at medium range 10-40km witht the medium rails and the close ones i leave to my drones. You should be able to fit someting similar to a megathron.
All I can say is it works for me allowing me to generate alot of cash from level 3s very wuickly without the need for any help from other parties.

I have maybe 3 million in SP that would apply to BS. I have never had a BS go into hull. Even when I had 3 million SP total and was soloing the original level 4's.
Spy stash is easy as long as you play smart and know to warp out as soon as anything bad happens, like accidentally aggroing the whole spawn which I did about six times last night. I can do it in an Enyo in about an hour. With a megathron I could do it in twenty minutes.

just done a lvl 3 silence the informer mission in a cyclone. once i got set up right it wasnt to bad at all . took me a few setup combos but in the end i went with three cap recharger ones one type e power corp mod one kinetic hardener and one explosive . and a named medium armour rep . only had enough power for 1 720 howitzer and 3 650 projectile artys along side 3 malky heavy launchers . took the two towers out first and second passes then third pass i got the two target ships. this is the third cyclone ive had , one i lost getting ganked in vecamia and the other was in a lvl3 revenge misison , went in umprepared got warp scrammed and kaboom ... expensive mistakes. because i learned the hard way , i learned !! have fun and good hunting

Im currently doing some "sparetime" agent running and didnt feel like using typhoon on on lvl3 missions so I decidet to give Cyclone one more try. All other missions seems to be "doable" expect ones with Mercs (had to warp away multiple times when I fought 5 merc cruisers), dunno if I should drop the dream to shield tank with my Cyclone and go for armor tanking...

We're trying to give him some friendly advice, that is all. Taking a battleship into a lvl3 mission should be a walk in the park.
I find it difficult to imagine how you could get yourself into that state. Spy stash is a reasonable mission, but it is by no means difficult, The black market hub currently gets the award for the hardest mission.
To illustrate this, here's a fraps of me doing the second stage of spy stash. Click

Honestly, a Wolf is a much better lvl 3 runner than the Cyclone. You might want to ring your phoon for the second stage of spy stash tough.

Main problem when doing lvl3s in a bs seems to be underestimating the problem... I did it in a tempest last week and got blown to bits... I thought 1st stage was so easy, lets do it with 70% shields down and not waiting for regeneration. Then i forgot to scoop drones at the activation gate and suddenly this warp scrambling frig was there and the angel rats pounded my armour with explosive dmg

Just fly smart in it. Don't rely on high transversal, low sig radius, and resists to save you entirely. I tend to fly in, pick off a couple ships, fly out, fly back in, pick off a couple more, etc. In my Wolf, I'm able to take down lower-end npc multiple bship spawns with escort, and lvl 3 missions are no problem as long as you are proactive and don't just settle into orbit or keep away and mindlessly hit F1-F4 on each new target. Good luck with this. :)
