If people were forced to travel more often, it would become much easier to go after them.
How about this idea, then ?

There are alliances and a corporate commonwealth linking hundreds of players who co-ordinate attacks against the big pirate corps.

You have the right to give me your cargo and isk. Anything you say or do contrary to my orders can and will be used to blow your ship into tiny bits. You have the right to counsel, that means you do what I say. If you can't afford my counsel, one will be appointed to you by stitching his name on your frozen corpse.

NGRU Storm- Amen. Carebear alliance can't whine to CCP to kick pirates out of 0.0 space. NPC pirates are a joke, there should be some danger in this game other than dying of boredom. I agree that its very easy for pirates to escape a large assault. But they're just players too, its just as easy for the good guys to escape as well. We're all working on the same page here. If you can organize fleets to protect choke points like Obe, so be it. Best of luck taking the 3 months to set up the alliance.

Massive awe-inspiring alliances of hundreds of corps going out and crushing piracy, or even one pirate corp, once and for all is not going to happen. If only because piracy is a play style, while anti-piracy is a job.
What will work, and what I suspect will inevitably develop (and already has in several places) are Guardian Angel groups (the real world anti-gang 'gang', not the Arch Angel subcorp). Small community affairs run by a single corp or an alliance of 2 or 3 corps that work to secure a system, constellation or portion of a region against piracy. Some will do it out of charity, others in hoping to attract trade to their region, others to demand tolls as a sort of 'white collar piracy'.

The game developers have made it clear that if a faction of corporations has the muscle to keep you out of a system or entire region, then they have the 'right' to do it. ;) If you don't like it, you have the right to form your own faction and dispute the issue.

To those of you who asked kindly for me to change my sig, your kindness is appreciated. I had no idea that the sig I've been using for four years would lock up high end systems with high end browsers. The NGRU Forum has had no problems with animated .gif files, nor have there been any complaints of browser lock ups on our forum. Please all, accept my apologies. =0)
To you, my dear Alpha Centauri of the Xenon Corp: to be quite honest your sig WAS done by my 2 year old for kicks. After he finished it he looked up at me with his big brown eyes and said, "Daddy, this sig I just created for Alpha Centauri is lame, and really sucks!" Kissy kissy ya clown...
