I'm looking at developing a tool for managing corps in Eve and I was wondering if I could get some feedback for you all. Here are my thoughts thus far:
Player Features: -Basic Player Management: Users' EVEMail inbox, notifications, skill queue, etc. -Market Information: Search the universe for market prices, averages, etc. Ability to specify price ranges, locations, jump limits, etc. -Asset Management: Know what you have and where -Security: Player only gets the features for the info their custom API key allows, API Key only sent once -Allow/Disallow what your CEO/Other Corp members can see about your character(assets, etc. Default is only public info) -Email/Text notifications about EveMail, from Corp, Market info, etc. (highly modifiable preferences for privacy and frequency) -Shopping Lists: Set lists of items and volumes of what you need, provides informations such as m3 for each item and total, average prices, best location to buy each item, etc.
Corp CEO Features: -Manage players: Detailed list of players and available information about each player(based on that players security preferences) -Applications: (May Not Be Included) check on the members that have applied for your corp(their security status, etc) -Send Texts/Emails(to users that have the feature enabled) without having to go in-game -Have a 'Front Page' for your corp, a customizable page to put information about your corp. -Asset Tracking: Similar to the player feature, but on the corp level
I would like to bring this to mobile as well.
My main focus in designing this tool is usability and security.
Is this something that currently exists? Is it something that players/corps would use? Are there features that would make this better? Features that don't really need to exist?
Any feedback would be much appreciated. |

I think something similar to what you described is ECM. Sadly it's a bit difficult to run due to restricted environment that shared hostings offer. Keep in mind it's written in Python so I'm pretty sure if you offer an alternative a lot of corps gonna use it.
My opinion, of course. |

Thanks for that! I hadn't heard of ECM before. One feature that I do bring to the table is a central hosted environment (it's a website, so no installation needed), however it looks like that is a great tool! |

If you could create a tool similar in functionality to ECM but written only in PHP with a MySQL backend, I would literally give you all the ISK on my cyno toon. Which is about 75k ISK, but hey, it's something. You'll also have my everlasting gratitude.
Wafou is right though, ECM is an excellent piece of software but is very restrictive in terms of the environment you run it in. I had to switch from NGINX back to Apache to get it to work right. I hate Apache. |

Well you are in luck! The tool I am working on is a PHP/MySQL app! |

subscribing, I'm currently using ECM, and its a chore to get working, and seems to break after every update.
Give me php/MySQL and I will give you a nice chunk of isk.
How far are you in coding? Care to show some code or screenshots? We have a few guys that would be interested in helping with the coding. |

PhP/MySQL is the way to go! |

Would definitely use, as our corp only has standard website hosting, which doesn't allow instalation of such tools as ECM. Something in PHP/MySQL would be lovely. |

As the above threads say, PHP/MySQL and you will get my isk.
Not my isk, of course, i'd dump some of the corp's isk into it.
Using a google doc spreadsheet hooked into the api isnt exactly the best way of managing a corp with 300+ people :P. |
