this may be a controversial issue, but what if a corp took over a 0.0 and they were able to ask the devs to look over their control of the system and grant them full legitamate control of the system and its stations, and allowing the corp to set its security status to however they wanted it. but the devs would make sure that the corp deserved to conttrol that system and the corp would have to pass a rigerous examination by the devs. that would be kinda cool....please give feedback

Roleplaying this I'd be hard pressed to see why any other faction in the game would let another establish themselves when this would mean giving up power over their space stations in that system.
The corporation would have to win a war against the grieved parties for this benefit.

It would be nice to be able to "claim" systems outside of Empire Space.
Much like the way keeps were "owned" in DAoC.
Added a bit more incentive.
Not that having 19 belts of pure Arkanor and Bistort (No Spod Here!) with your very own station and personal Quafe bar isn't incentive, but... |

This formed part of my wider idea for extra 'group' types to straight corporations. For factionalist issues is a good idea :).

There was an early dev discussion (cannot find it atm), which talked about this. It was stated (IIRK) that to hold a sector the corp would have to 'control' ALL belts, planets, stations and gates of a sector for a length of time (not specified). Then they would have to enter into a negotiation with a local empire Navy to suppliment their control. Following this, they would control the sector (but not necessarily the stations) and could improve the security rating of the system.
The idea has definately been thought about, even if the detail is currently missing.
