Here's a screen shot taken earlier today (late yesterday GMT)
Doctor C
You might notice a few more points in Spaceship Command...I've taken a little time away from my core focus to train into an Amarrian battleship, supplemented for defensive purposes with some engineering and electronics expertise. I do like to get out of the station now and then .

Heh...Thanks Brej, and very true. I have about enough gunnery skills to fire basic pea shooters. I'm counting on my opponents laughing so hard that I'll have time to warp the {bleep} out of town before they get around to pulling their triggers.

Attributes will clearly be Memory and Intelligence heavy as he has specialised in Industry and Science.
Good character to sit in station with 24/7 and build / research stuff other than that must be fairly boring ... although I am sure Caymus will have another account whcih is a bit more Gun(g) Ho.
Congrats on the milestone though :)

The max clone is still 38.4 million skill points. Needless to say, I won't be leaving secure space any time soon (well, maybe in my heavily tanked Apoc...if I run into any opponents, I'll just nos and smartbomb them to death)
For you newcomers to the game, I'll share one more character with you to illustrate that with focused training, you can excel in an area relatively quickly. I started this account less than eleven months ago. The character has close to 15 million skill points already, and is what I'd call an elite miner. Flys a Covetor with modulated strip miners, has all of the core mining skills maxed, fields 10 Harvesters, and has a comprehensive set of support skills in navigation, engineering, electronics and mechanic. Check him out here.

Hey Tripoli...good to see you here. You can't be that far behind, man
Demetrius, it takes me almost exactly 4 days to accumulate 256,000 I/M skill points...the amount needed for level 5 in a rank one skill. Works out to close to 2 million points per month
Soulie, I have trained the advanced memory and intelligence skills to level five, and the others to level 4. Alot has been written in the forums about whether or not it is "worth it"...some of the best discussion coming from Tripoli. In a nutshell, it depends on how long you intend to stay in the game. The time spent training advanced learning to level 5 takes many years to "pay back" in the form of incremental gains in the rate of training functional skills. As a rule of thumb, if you think you'll play a year, train the basic learning skills to level 4 and be done with learning. Two or three years...train basic to level 5 and advanced to level 3 or 4. Forever... ...consider training advanced learning skills to level 5. Take a look at the threads at the top of the skills board, and page through previous threads for more discussion of this when you have the time.

Well, I'm sad (very sad) to say that I was out of the game for about 4 months or so. RL catching up with me...new job, recently promoted, no time AT ALL for EVE. Still don't have much time, but I just HAD to come back and give it another go.
Hence, I'm lagging a solid 10 million points behind the leader now. Sure, 30,220,694 skill points still ain't bad. Neither is 205 skills with 53 trained to level 5, but sheesh, some of these skills are getting expensive. There's a few out there I could have bought and trained immediately, but decided not to, due to price. If my latest money-making scheme works out, maybe I'll get back in the skill collecting game hard-core again. I never had a chance in the total SP game, anyways. ---

I am feeling depressed also. 6 million SP behind the Doc. But then I am a little bit more of a Jack of all trades but still 6 million behind!
Drones 2 million Electronics 2 million Engineering <2 million Gunnery 6 million Industry 2.5 million Learning 3.5 million Mechanic >1 million Navigation >1 million Science <7 million Starship <6 million
The rest are less than 1/2 a million some less then 100k in. I dont see how I will ever catch up with the Doc, but this is my only account and I use this character for everything.

The mystery mining character is actually Minmatar/Sebiestor. Here's how I set him up:
Attribute: Int Per Cha WP Mem
Minmatar/Sebeistor (base) 7 5 6 6 6
This is a pretty balanced starting point. Perception is a bit low but this can be corrected through the selection of the "Rebel" ancestral line:
Rebel Ancestral Line +3 Perception, +1 Willpower
New Total 7 8 6 7 6
Very nicely balanced, with emphasis on Perception, Intelligence and Willpower. Plus we get 5 extra bonus points to allocate. Here's what I did:
Bonus Points +2 Int, +1 WP, +2 Memory
Total Beginning Attributes 9 8 6 8 8
I allocated my bonus points to get a balanced character with a slight bias toward intelligence and away from charisma, for a mining and industrial career. Change the bonus points a bit, and a slight emphasis can easily be shifted to perception and willpower for a fighter. Or change the bonus point emphasis a bit differently, to perception and intelligence, and create what might be the perfectly balanced character based on the most popular attributes that are called for by skills currently in the game.
Also, it is a good idea to figure all this out on paper before setting up a character, because in character set-up you need to allocate your bonus points BEFORE you get to select an ancestral line.
To finish off my mining character I added:
Level 5 basic attr skills +5 +5 +5 +5 +5 Level 4 advanced skills +4 +4 +4 +4 +4 "+3" Implants +3 +3 +3 +3 +3
Subtotal 21 20 18 20 20
"Learning" level 5 +2.1 +2.0 +1.8 +2.0 +2.0
Total Attributes 23.1 22.0 19.8 22.0 22.0

And a couple of additional comments...Miri, Drachir and Namarus have very impressive balanced characters with total skills in the 35 million point range. I would speculate that these are the leading "balanced" characters in total skill points.
Tripoli has slipped a bit in total points from not being able to get much game time in in recent months, but may still be the game's leader in total skills possessed.
And as Namarus mentions, Rhyslin is right behind me and should hit 40 million points any day now. He is EVE's foremost pure scientist, having trained all the available science skills to level 5.

Caymus is right about drawing out your character before actually hitting character creation. I actually made a spreadsheet with all possible attribute creations. By this I mean I wrote down each race and faction's starting stats, then added in the 3 choices you get later that add to attributes. This gives me a base stats list that I can then add 5 points to (no more then 3 to one stat) to find out what my actual starting stats were. Not sure if anyone else has done this, maybe I can get it hosted to help people.
I have learned alot from doing this, one of which is it is a conception that going amaar to get 4 charisma is a good idea because it minimizes on points in charisma, HOWEVER if you do infact do this, the highest you can get perception after creation is 7 by putting 3 points in it. On the other hand having the lowest possible perception/charisma (4/4) this character would make a decent scientist not a fighter.
Caymus also has the added benefit of being able to plug any implants in that he could possibly want, since as he says his character does not go out of empire space often. Well long as whoever he is corped with isn't at war. I would hate to loose 6 +5 attribute implants in 1 podding
As for people saying they will never catch up to caymus, you will once he runs out of I/M or M/I things to train

Not quite all, since they recently added Hacking and Archaeology, but I'm working on those... And technically, I don't have RPM at 5 either, but I consider that more of a Social skill than a Science one

I just calculated that I have available to me another 300 days of training Int/Mem skills. I would have about 57 mil SPs at that point. And that's only for the skills I already have. I'm not even counting the newer ones (like the two construction skills in Mechanic that are rank 14 and 16--which would take me 60 and 69 days to train to L5, respectively, if I could afford them...)

Hi, first of all sorry... i'm a bit late :P but congratulation for your characters
I have a question too:
i'm playing since 06-06-2005
my starting attributes were:
intelligence 11 perception 4 charisma 10 willpower 8 memory 9
now i'm skilling learning skills and my attributes are:
intelligence 16 perception 9 charisma 15 willpower 13 memory 14
now i have about 1million 625k SP
i want to be a fighter, but, as you can see my perception is very low.
when i started playing eve i didn't know what attributes were....
someone told me this is a pretty char anyway, but... what do you think about it? :\
it's better to restart with a new character? it should be really annoying for me, even because i have not money to buy +5 implants... well... i have no money to buy a +2 neither

Yes start over now and delete your character..... it is too far behind everyone else.. your only option to catch up is to delete your character and re-roll for high perception. I recommend Deiteis Caldari. Please hurry and delete your character as soon as you read this.

You've revived my interest in collecting. Make that 210 skills. I'm not going to bother with these various Connections skills until their prices drop a bit, but I've got the prerequisites for all eight of them trained. There are also another eight skills I could add all of within about 2 weeks, if I was real strict about my training.
And for anyone who might think Dr Caymus is crazy for training two advanced learning skills to level five...I trained all of them to level 5. I know there are a few of us nuts out there. ---

LOL, that's awesome. I defer to your greatness, oh master of the Learning skills.
As for being the skill quantity leader, I am afraid that I am not. I do believe I either held, or was tied for that title for about a year and a half, Starfly being my constant competition. With my recent sabbatical into the real world I fell behind a bit. He's currently sitting on 237 skills. I'll settle for second for now. For now... ---

Caymus, forget the whole skill point thing for a bit, I just wanted to say that regarding your attitude to helping out the others here with describing what skills you have and how went about setting up your attributes and charachters is a great testiment to how helpful some of the players can be here. This is a great informative read even for characters who have been around since the begining.
Just wanted to say thanks for being so open and helpful about how you got your character to where he is today.
Thanks

Originally by: Tarhos Hi, first of all sorry... i'm a bit late :P but congratulation for your characters
If you have 9 perc train the advance skill to 4 - that will make 13 - add an implant to get to 15 or 16. Not ideal but ok. I'd think long and hard about starting over.

Hi gang, sorry to have disappeared for awhile. I've been travelling for the the last week and away from the computer (and let me tell you...a 2,000 mile trip by car is like a 64 jump flight without instas ).
Tarhos, first let me say welcome to the game. You may have already decided what to do based on the good input of others, but I'll throw out a couple of thoughts anyway. Like most of us, you've jumped into the game forming your first character with attributes shaped by your initial impressions of what might be valuable in developing the character. Now with some experience, you find that your attributes are not the best for what you'd like to focus on in the game. In fact, you have a character that is very nicely suited to a career in trade and industry, and perhaps corporate management. This may not be what you want to do, but it is still a great character.
Consider this. Start a second 3 month subscription to EVE. Form a new character with attributes that are more ideally suited to gunnery and spaceship command. Begin training the new character while continuing to train and play the game with your current character. Think about training the current character in industry and trade skills...his strengths. Within six or eight weeks, the new character will start to take shape in his career. By that time, you'll probably be playing the new character more than the original one. You could then keep both of them....alot of people have a couple of accounts, one with a fighter and one with an industrial character...or you could auction off the original account for ISK (see the "items for sale" forum) and cut back to one account subscription after transferring the character. This might get you enough ISK to buy some good implants for the new character .
And Safronique, thanks for the kind comments. To know that I have helped others in the game is a pleasure .

Yep, that was one of the first things I did. Had a full set of limited implants as soon as I could afford them.
I also traned up Caldari Industrials so I could do some tradeing in the mean time. You can actually make some good isk hauling, for a beginning character anyway, with just a little time invested.

Nice detective work Hippo, mystery solved. You are correct...Rulon Mudhunter is the mining character I created last September when CCP was running the second account promotion offering six months for the price of three.
The level 5 skills earned by the trading character are quite useful. He trades region-wide, tends to modify his orders often to meet the competition, and places huge mineral purchase orders. Visibility, procurement, day trading and margin skills are all critical. Accounting and broker relations reduce costs nicely. In six days he'll have tycoon to level 5 enabling over 300 open orders. Oh, and I set this guy up to have the black market skill, too...maybe he'll smuggle me some of those learning boosters

How come you have all the science skills at 5, and yet you only have Research Project Management at 3? Surely with all the other skills at 5, you'd want RPM at 5 so you could run 6 research agents, otherwise I don't see the point of training the science skills above 4 atm, because 4 is the max you need any of them at to be able to build/research/copy T2 stuff.

Because 6 x zero == 4 x zero.
And RPM is a mem/cha skill, so I just didn't feel like wasting the time
Frankly, and let this be a warning to anyone actually contemplating a science career, there isn't much fun or sense of accomplishment in it. For most of the time when I was actively playing, I was doing two things: managing research slots and BPs and running missions. That got old about a year ago.
So, I decided to set a goal to get all the sci skills to 5 while I waited to see if it would get any better. It hasn't yet....
