Brooks Puuntai wrote:Super Bowl commercials are suppose to be about boobs, beer, or are comical(a mix of the 3 is win). So placing a Sci-Fi based MMO commercial would just be out of place and laughable by the general demographic. Now having Eve related commercials on Sci-Fi channel or Science Channel would make sense.
Also don't be mad that us Americans took your game, changed its name, then created a different game and used the same name. Its what we do. Same with the metric system.
ok ok ill bite and pitch another idea.
Ok going from pvp and the tears that come from it.
Picture a low sec system say Amamake.
All the sudden you see a ship fly by weapons a blazing explosions damage and stuff going on.
Then one of the ships blows up and you see the winner scram the pod and demand a ransom from the pod.
Insert generic whine and rant about cheating and how the person that won lives in their moms basement etc.
Cue coms static and zoom into the ship that won the fight and is issuing the ransom. So see a hot eve female drinking a bottle of quafe ultra.
*transition similar to eve is real but in reverse character to real life person*
Now you see a real woman that looks like her avatar drinking a bottle of booze and has a head set on.
She say over eve voice, and to kind of quote the famous Mynxee from an interview done years ago. CRY MORE! Not only did you get your ass kicked, you got your ass kicked by a girl.
Then transition back to the in game avatar zoom out of the ship back to the pod to watch it get blown up into goo with a nice corpse flying around. |

It generates more revenue than most countries, where people don't care about the sport. So CCP would be making a good business move by buying ad time on it. In fact, if they didn't make a DUST ad for the superbowl, I'd question their sanity. You may not get as much of the PC market doing it, but the console gamers would eat it up.
*sigh*
Not even by a long shot Dorian. Off the top of my head the FIFA world cup finals and the opening and closing ceremonies of the summer Olympics are far more widely viewed (by nearly an order of magnitude!) than the superbowl. I'd not be surprised if the RWC started to get close to the mark too - heaven knows things are getting interesting.
In any case - for the commercial here is an idea:
A shot from the captain's quarters, of a toon watching on that big screen we got there - add boobs and quafe to the image. Put in a fool in a Fedo costume for laughs. On the side of the screen all kinds of warnings are flashing about.
Lasts five seconds toon switches on comms and simply states - engage.
Shifts over to suicidal destruction of epic proportions on the ice fields of EVE. Concord overwhelmed, macks blown up all over the place. Cursing and howling. Lots of tears flowing.
Back to the CQ - now we are seeing figures of profit as value of ICE sky rockets. Charts and all that jazz. Guy gets up to meet up with.
Closing statement - Something canny about EVE being your universe, your sandbox, yours to manipulate and make off what you will.
Inspired by real events too :p

If EVE Online had a Superbowl commercial, they'd announce afterwards that we all have to buy 30 Plexes each or they will have to sell out to Electronic Arts. What God Wants, God Gets, God Help Us All |

To the ones saying a video gamer commercial during a football game is a bad idea, Cataclysm had a commercial during the Cowboys vs Vikings game last year. And Blizzard appears to be doing rather well for themselves.
On the topic of the commercial content: Commercial starts off with a dead capsuleer floating in space, much like one of the pevious trailers. Gun fire all around it as the camera slowly zooms out to reveal a huge battle between Mini and Amarr ships. The whole time, Gary Jules' redition of Mad World is playing.
Then slow fade into the EVE logo: Slogan. |

Exactly where is this bowl going that makes it so super, and how big is it? Does it have superpowers?
I like the idea about the egg becoming a capsule and flying to space btw.
On a slighly related note, I would love to see one of those PS3 with Kevin Butler for DUST 514 and EVE. - [yellow]English only please. Zymurgist[/yellow] |

For those stating that the adds have top have Boobs, Beer and sports related... Tell me then, why was this commercial there:
XPeria Play
I'm sure a bunch of jocks are hot to see this.... wait, what????
It doesn't matter what the add is... If a company is willing to pay the exorbitant price per minute of air time, they cant post an add of a Rifter soccer tourny if they want. Sheesh people!!! It's called capitalism.
But OP... I like your idea... create a story board... srsly... |

These ideas are better than the current "EVE is real" campaign and that video that made me squirm in my chair. It sends the wrong message and makes the players seem seem dillusional. Instead of focusing on the emotional bond between eve and the players CCP and the rare large fleet fights they should focus on what makes the game fun - blowing stuff up and trying to get one over on the other player. There is too much focus on it's complexity and politics which turns the majority of people off imo. |

I dont care how 'super' this 'bowl' is, but why should we care?

The Superbowl may be available in one billion homes around the planet, but nowhere near 1 billion people are watching it.
The World Cup is the most watched sporting event on the planet. It eclipses even the Olympics.

Another bite : (never even seen the bloody superbowl!)
Dust players duking it out on planet, with some players in a small screen shown console players. "all happy and stuff"
* insert flashes of dreads/carriers/whatever in orbit planet.. *
* close off logo of dust "buy it" !!
Insert footage of pc player "some basement dweller"... all he does is push -enter-
footage of fanfest -> orbital strike
footage of exploding dust players and raging guys on console, prefereble some dis-belief on faces or pure tears.
EVE-logo ... "where spaceships are serieus buisness"
