We have had a small number of reports of client lockup/freezes and sometimes crashes. We have started to investigate these reports but we need more information to narrow down a reproduction case.
If you have experienced a client lockup/crash since Retribution 1.1 then please file a bug report here or via the in-game bug reporting tool then reply to this thread to let me know you have done so.
What information do we need in the bug report?
Please attach:
- Screenshot your clients graphic settings
- When your client crashes it should generate a .dmp file located C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE more info here
- Logserver report from when the freeze/crash occurred more info here
Crucial information that should be included in the description:
Operating System: Graphics Card: Driver Version: Number of Clients: How long before the freeze/crash occurs? What are you doing when the freeze occurs?:
Example:
Quote: Operating System: Windows 7 Graphics Card: NVIDIA 580 GTX Driver Version: 314.07 Number of Clients: 2 EVE clients running How long before the freeze/crash occurs? Every 15 minutes of gameplay What are you doing when the freeze occurs?: When I am jumping between solar systems

Thanks Rain6637, the long wait in loading isnGÇÖt considered a client freeze/hang (that is when the client is completely unresponsive and wonGÇÖt recover.
However I have good news, we are aware of the increase in time to load the captainGÇÖs quarters and one of the teams is currently testing a fix which should be deployed soon.
Sergeant Acht Scultz, I am glad to hear the issues appear to be gone, please reply or file a bug report if you have any further freezes or crashes.

We are actively investigating this issue, but our biggest problem is that we cannot reproduce this freeze in-house at all...
We have an idea what might be going on there, but I need your help to prove it:
So the next time you get this freeze, can you please leave it for a few minutes and then open the Windows Task Manager, go to the "Processes" tab and look for a process "ExeFile.exe *32"? When you have found it, keep an eye on the memory consumption. What I'd like to know is: does it go up and up and up? And does it stop finally at the ~4GB boundary?
IF "exefile.exe" has reached this boundary I would like to get a screenshot of your task manager and the client log files! That would help us a lot!

It would also be helpful to know if you are running any osftware that overlays graphics on top of the EVE client i.e. Mumble or xFire as this software has been known to crash the games that it overlays. CCP Vertex-á | -áArt Quality Assurance-á |-á Team Trilambda

Kallehd wrote:Need to know if a single log server will log the entries from both clients? I had a crash tonight, but not from the client I started with the logserver.
If not, you guys need to tell us how to get the log server running for each of the clients as this is like a lottery, where you log one client and the other crashes. Takes too long and I'd like to get this solved faster instead of slower :) Thanks
CCP Vertex / Mankiller ?
EDIT: In case the log server saves data from all clients started after it, I saved the workspace where it happened ... so depending on the answer to the above question, I may or may not have a log server dump from the client freeze. I believe it works for both clients, but CCP Vertex / Mankiller might want to confirm that. CCP karkur | User Interface Programmer | Team Pony Express | @CCP karkur |

Logserver will record all clients running so if you started logserver then started 2 clients it will record both client logs. CCP Vertex-á |-á-áLead Graphics Analyst-á |-á Team Trilambda

Hi,
While we have made a bit of progress in looking into this (it happened for example once on my machine), we need to ask you for a bit more information to be able to resolve this faster. Please respond with following information, if you experiencing freezing clients (which do not recover at all):
- Number of running clients, when the freeze happened:
- Full screen / windowed / fixed window:
- Was the client minimized, when the freeze happened?
- Audio enabled? (on how many clients?)

Update:
We have a potential fix being tested for the client freeze issue and hope to deploy this fix to Tranquility next week is our testing goes well.
The fix is currently on the Singularity test server and we encourage anyone experiencing the client freeze to play for a while on Singularity and let us know via this forum thread if you experience any client freezes on Singularity.
Instruction on how to get on the test server can be found here
I would like to thank everyone who contributed in helping us fix this issue and apologize for the inconvenience this caused during your gaming sessions.

Ahoy-hoy
I'm looking for some feedback on this issue today if people have some time to drop me a quick comment so I can get an idea how well this freeze has been addressed. That includes people who are fixed, if its sorted I would really like to know about it.
Likewise if this is still an issue for you, after you have downloaded the patch yesterday, and gameplay continues to stall under the same circumstances let us know below in a structured and informative reply so I can continue the investigation.
Much appreciated |

All drivers updated Prime 95 stable overnight memtest 86; no failures. DPC latency test in the green
Oddly no windows exceptions are generated, the computer doesn't CTD, and windows system logs are not showing any errors during the time when the freezing occurs.
Crashes work themselves out like this: I'll be playing the game and then my monitor will go black which causes my entire machine to become unresponsive. This lasts anywhere from 10-20 seconds. My monitor will begin displaying the game correctly again at which point my game usually has 10FPS or less. This will only resolve itself by logging off and restarting the client(s). Recently this has also caused Chrome to crash forcing an application restart.
Hi Neesa, i'm afraid this dosent sound like the issue we have fixed and if your monitor is going black that suggests the video signal is being interupted which usually points to a hardware issue. CCP Vertex-á |-á-áLead Graphics Analyst-á |-á Team Trilambda

I am closing this thread as the client freeze issue caused by graphic effects has been resolved, any other client freeze in different scenarios will be investigated as they are reported.
If you are still experiencing a client freeze or crash of any kind we urge you to file a bug report here.
