Where do you get ships? If you build them then you need BPs, do you spend isk to buy BPCs or do you have to buy a BPO? Sure you get some freebie ships from the career agents, but then what? A handful of frigates and a destroyer from the career agents should be enough to get my first BPO. Punisher Blueprint is seeded at 2,587,500 ISK - hardly an impossible amount of money, even for a new character. And once I have that, I have my foot in the door so to speak. Quote:Where do you get equipment? If used to be pretty easy to get guns and such off of mission loot, but after the nerf it got a lot harder. Ammo doesn't drop fast enough (unless you use lasers) so you need to build or buy it. Guess why I'm going Amarr? T1 lasers never break. As for the corp, I'll go with SoE since it's so easy to get high standings with them thanks to the Epic Arc. Will set up in Simela, 1-3 sec SoE agents there, plus plenty of 0.5 systems in the vicinity to rat in. First month's gonna be grinding Refinery and Refinery Efficiency to 5 so I can get 95% efficiency at 6.67 loyalty. With some luck, I'll hardly have to do any mining at all, since I'll be looting and refining everything from rats. If I will have to do some mining, I will have two Ventures I believe(someone correct me on the exact amount you get from the tutorials), and their BPOs seem to be actually seeded in... Jita? I'll never need anything bigger since I'm only mining for myself. Full ore bay of regular Veldspar in Venture refines into what, 150k Tritanium? That's enough for a cruiser, or several Ventures. Rarer ores - again, refining, or I could try to have Wormhole Adventures. "Psychotic Monk" wrote:When someone finds some way to suprise pvp you or demand a ransom or whatever, what's your stance on that re: interaction? Well if I get ganked I get ganked so that's it - it's not like I gained anything from another player, is it? The real problem is wardecs(I'll be going "solo corp" to maximize ISK gain). By the way: the solo playstyle doesn't prevent me from trying to blow other people up, I just can't loot their wrecks afterwards. And to clarify: I am not really a sociopath, I actually enjoy socializing in MMOs, and I plan on talking to people in local, rookie, etc. chats in the game when doing the solo challenge. Hell, if I get the chance I'll even try and help some noobs out, i.e. with Dagan and whatnot. It's not "**** everyone" gameplay, it's "DIY" gameplay, there's a difference.
You will need a lot of loot or null sec access to get the high end minerals for production.
I applaud your idea and it IS a hard one, but I doubt you will manage it to play totally solo. |

They're seeded in the ORE stations out in the Outer Ring (NPC nullsec). The BPOs on sale in Jita are sold by other players (NPC orders have a 365 day expiry).

Normally don't post in these forums, I'm a reader only, but your post caught my eye. I think my last post wast 6-8 months ago.
Although nobody "solos" EvE to the exclusion of all player interaction - sooner or later someone will pod you at the very least - I'd encourage you to put your plan to the test. I tried something similar with an alt and I did enjoy it. The first year was rough, but he's currently got 7 billion and a few T II ships. However, it is a lonely existence.
A previous poster said that your idea was " hilarious and excellent", or something to that effect. Which reminded me of a classic series of posts by "Innominate Nightmare" back in 2006 or so. I followed his quest ( as well as did most of EvE at that time) who threw himself into 0.0 with nothing but a frigate - His misadventures were, in fact, hilarious and excellent.
If you are interested in something "completely different", you might give it a read. He also has a blog site somewhere on the web.

nota bene: Innominate Nightmare suffered numerous player interactions.

Nice Hair Bro wrote:for the Battleship skillbook, which is the biggest ship I will have a chance of flying
The skillbook wont be your problem. The BPOs will. It will set you back by at least 1B and to get that you will need to run missions in a BC. That comes at a sporty 350-420M depending on ship type. Cruiser will be cheap with only 60ish. Minerals will be no problem if you pick some loot while you do the missions. If you make 1B in bounty + reward you will gain mineral worth the same in form of refinable loot. Since you can't sell anything you will end with piles of minerals. Salvage is rather pointless as you wont need more then 15 rigs in total (given you don't get your ships exploded). Researching BPOs is pointless as you will never sell any of the ships you build, nor the BPO.
There are a few items that wont drop at all. Like sentry drones. So you have to be picky that ship you want to fly. I would take an apoc and run for amarr to get a navy apoc because it provides a reasonable effective damage in missions. Some faction items require tags what means you have to run missions against factions. So sisters is a bad idea.
It is certainly possible and you will actually have to SP to fly the ship when you are able to buy the BPO.

One man corp and mining/missions has worked out fine for me.
Although i hadnt intended on doing this...when i first started in eve i was told trust no one so i didn't :) |

If it was me, and I put these restraints on myself. I'd just quit and play something else.
If you REALLY wanted to go fullretard then there'll be no T2 at all.
All you'd end up doing is exploration, missions and mining. Which sounds like a recipe for suicide to me.
Play with others, it's way more fun. |

I like the SoE because they're "neutral". I don't want to side with a single empire as that might lock me out of others, and I like the freedom of going where I want.
After the Tiericide T1 lineup is quite viable and I was aiming for the Abaddon as BS because I like the straightforwardness of it. As for the "endgame" I was thinking about Blood Raiders specific ships(I should be able to get BPCs as drops from their sites... eventually - and they require only minerals to build).
I know that Blood Raider ships are the bads(other than Bhaalgorn) but hey, by the time I will be actually able to get and fly them, maybe they'll get gently caressed by Fozzie...
Currently this project is planned for after the summer update, so there's no rush. |

Nice Hair Bro wrote:Call it challenge. Call it sociopathy. Don't ask why.
The rules are: You can rely only on yourself and the game itself to do... well, anything. So you cannot joing player corps. Or fleets. Or, most importantly, trade with other players. Or accept things from them. If you want something, you either get it yourself(from enemies/NPCs), make it yourself, or forget about it.
In most MMOs these rules result in minor inconvenience at best, but in EVE where 99% of the stuff on the market is player-made, it's a big friggin problem. I am trying to identify what framework do I have to work with with these limitations. Pretty much everything T2 seems to be out of the question, for example - I could invent it myself, but I couldn't get the required moongoo-based materials. Unless there is a way to get them that I do not know of?
And this is where you come in. It's not my first day in EVE but I am no way an expert on the game and there might be ways around I am simply not familiar with. For example, I've heard you can get some really random crap from exploration sites but I've never done exploration myself and I have little idea what that random crap is.
Feedback most welcome. Just imagine that, starting tommorow, you cannot buy anything from the Market. How would your EVE life look like then and how would you adjust?
(I apologize for posting this in New Citizens Q&A as I am not a "New Citizen" and this is quite obviously an alt. But I feel if I have any gameplay-related question they should be here as a) any passing-by New Citizen may read them and learn something and b) lol GD is for reading, not for posting)
I think this idea is insane. You'll never get anywhere. You'll never get the materials and blueprints to manufacture this stuff yourself, and you'll rage quit long before you will accomplish anything of notable measure.
I would abandon this course of action as quickly as possible and start enjoying what this game offers: the necessity to participate in a society of internet spaceship pilots who must exchange with one another whether they like it or not.
You'll figure it out soon enough. The market exists for a reason. Play Diablo III if you want to grind for items. Eve is just not designed for someone who wants to play this way.

How about forcing another player to eject from their ship by ransom?
Ransoming another player = player interaction and thus not allowed.

In fairness, I wasn't trying to troll you. I was simply pointing out that you have picked the wrong game to try to solo. It just won't work. Trying to fit a ship that you manufactured with nothing but drops sounds like a huge pain in the posterior region.
If you do give this a run, however, I want to know how it works out. Good luck! |
