I am always puzzled by those demanding people post with their main characters. I understand the sentiment a bit when people have a forum alt that is an untrained character in an NPC corp. Still, for many of us industrialists, we have multiple characters, and spend a decent amount of time on all of them.
For example, I have 3. This one is what I consider my main, because this was my first character. Yet I may not log into this character on a daily basis. Yet, I have 3 Indy alts (only 1 actively training). All 3 do pi, so are usually logged in once a day. 1, my 2nd most skilled character and only one currently training, invents and manufactures. He is vital to my industry, yer I am on him the least. (ok, 2nd least, one is purely pi and only logs in for planet cycling and collecting pi). My other Indy toon is a manufacturer, miner, hauler. She logged 80 jumps in the charon the other day, but i would never consider her a main because her jobs are dependant on the main Indy toon.
So, what do you all consider your main?is it your oldest? The one you soend the most time on, the one most vital to your operations?
And no need to expose mains or alts here. I'm just curious how others view what defines their main character. |

I am a main because I reflect my masters personality the best. A jack of all trades, but master of none. Even when I'll amount to wealth surpassing my imagination an buy the best, most specialized characters there are, Invictra Atreides will still be considered as a main. The character comes with all its skills and flaws and a history of 3+ years of win and fails. Blog |-áTutorials | Youtube "I donGÇÖt know everything, I just know what I know." |

I have two combat pilots and this one, who focuses on Industry and I consider her to be my main. She always has plenty to do (and soon more when I get my science skills up), and is definitely the ISK maker, and most importantly the one I have the most fun with. |

The post with your main crowd are just hunting for targets, be it War Decs, Ganks or just lame bounties.
Tin foil hattery could leave one to believe other sinister alternatives.
My main has all the isk...well most of the time....he makes most of it too. Although DevSwarm with their Stealth Nerfs to T-2 ship Invention and stated "desire" to move all T-2 to Goon Space are making me seriously reconsider all the time and R/L money I spend on this game.
I have personally seen at least a 25% drop in invention sucess in Hulk BPC's in the last few months....NO it's not random it's a nerf. I do enough of them to know. Like a few 10 Inventions with 20% decrytors yeilding Zero successes??? 2 out of 10 being good now when a few months ago it was more like 4-6 out of 10.
The Goon/Dev relationship has to go..or I'll just go. Nerf Goons

I'm the oldest of my tribe, and I guess I'm still my 'main' but on the other hand, I've been overtaken skillpoints wise by 3 alts, as this char has stopped training a couple of times to get a couple of builder / research alts going.
As I'm my first char I'm still classed as my main, but no more important than the majority of my chars, not a lot of combat skills but I've got another 2 that have, no capital ship skills, but I've got a char that has, no real leadership skills, but I've got a char with maxed leadership skills, so I'm not really a jack of all trades either, just my first char.

I very much doubt that the rumours regarding moving invention and/or all T2 production to nul-sec will come to pass. It's like the previous rumours such as removing ice belts from high sec or even removing off-grid boosting.
Certainly in the case of removing ice belts from high sec or moving all T2 to nul-sec these kind of changes would result in hoards of 'rage quit' which would seriously damage CCP's business. No one in their right mind would destroy their own business. These rumours come from the Goons guy at CCP and are best ignored. |

I have no main. I play my characters more or less often based on what they can do and what I like to do at a given moment.
But this is the only character I'm posting on the forums with. So any alt statements in my direction would be a waste of time.

This is my main and pretty much the only character i have these days. I do own an alt for scanning, salvaging, scouting etc, but i barely log into that one anymore. I just don't need it. *shrug* At the moment i am training Logi on it so i can sell it on the character bazaar more easily when substription runs out the next time. So... i started an industry blog at www.derbk.com/eve There i am preparing a guide to all things related to manufacturing. Check it out!

The main is the character you use to post on forums obviously. Or the name of character other people use most frequently to adress you - often its also your oldest char. Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... *THWONK!* GOT the bastard. |

And no need to expose mains or alts here. I'm just curious how others view what defines their main character. Well this is my "main" forum character. It is one of my oldest characters, I rarely post anything on the forum that is not through this character. So in that sense it is my "main" at least as far as the forums are concerned.
However I have 4 accounts with all slots filled on all four. several are simple PI/market alts. A couple started out as mining/hauler alts. I have two main combat toons. One was my first character, currently almost 50 mil SP. the other only has just over 40 mil SP but is more focused, as in less skills trained at sub optimal before I knew what I was doing. I now have the main character on each account trained as decent combat PVP pilots, but I do not consider either a main character. I guess my true main character would be the one I log into voice chat as, my second highest skill point toon, and the CEO of my indy corp. This is the character my of my in game friends and contacts look for when they need me.
As far as the whole "POST WITH YOUR MAIN" crap that keeps coming up on the forum. I see no point in it. There is warrant towards those who use unknown alts to troll the forums, but for the most part there is no need to associate my main combat characters with my main forum character. On the Forums I am known As Bugsy, many players know me in the S & I forums as well as a few other subforums. If I was to post on my combat toon, nobody here would know who I was. Also why should I give the opportunity for anyone who disagrees with me here on the forums to hunt me down in the game. I certainly am not afraid of the potential PVP. But why risk my mining fleet for someone else's epeen. Not going to happen, Sorry.
Those Of my alliance that have seen my API, If they bother to look will see this character there. No problem for those that I trust. But for the rest, this character is not in the same corp or alliance as any other of my active characters. The only time I log into this character in game is to do market checks at trade hubs far from where my corp is setup. So tracking this character down will not even get you in the same region as my other characters. I see it as a safety measure to protect my in game assets from forum trolls and would be gankers. |
