I attribute the root cause to the degradation of our educational system over the past 30 years, but that's an entirely different thread.
I blame the fact that corporations are running the government caldari style. Because of this they can get away with pretty much anything, including all the stuff they do to crush the far superior competition. You know, like how the MPAA and RIAA basically use the government to force people to continue to accept their obsolete business model. In this case they're gradually losing, but it's still a good example of what I'm talking about. Read the cracked article linked earlier in the thread. It's another good example. Since Hollywood owns the ratings board they can just arbitrarily get rid of any independent movie they see as a threat. |

So blockbusters suck because they must return the investment, which is huge because this way the producers earn gazillions.
Lucky for us, here in Spain we treat commercial films the way they deserve and give plenty of prizes to arty films that imitate international arty films (FAI: silent onirical black and white films the year after the silent onirical black and white film "The Artist" hits fortune.

I don't believe that is the case being made here. We are complaining for the most part of the endless remakes and reboots and outright copying of ideas.
