Apologies for stealing your ideas, Dr Slaughter, but I've modified a map-data parsing perl script of mine and persuaded it to produce dot files.
I thought it would be interesting to produce a carebear's map of the regions. If my script worked right, this shows only those regions that are linked by routes that don't go below 0.5 system security.

Very nice... I've been looking for something exactly like this, so keep up the good work.
BTW, Dr Slaughter, if you would like a more professional hosting solution, I might be able to help you out with that. Send me an EVEMail.
Can't wait for vector PDFs... maybe some color coding would be a nice touch as well.

No worries at all. I'm so busy at the moment it's great to have someone else doing something similar! Nice one.
Decepere/superconductor. Thanks for the offers. Will get back to you when I have something more.
On a dev side.. it occurs to me that what I've been doing in bash/awk/sed and Emilys done in Perl.. might be better done directly as a set of Excel Macro's that t20 could include in his misc_data excel file? t20 whatcha think?

Having some issues with generating PDFs as the tools have some limits. Should be done with a best effort tomorrow.
I've got the maps listing system name, security status, and it's shape being different if it's got a station in it, would anyone like to know how many ice fields are in the system? What about Moons, Planet(gas/ice) etc.

Edited by: Dr Slaughter on 11/08/2005 14:06:09 You can find PDF versions for every region with:
Station present (double circle node) Security Status Number of Moons in system
organized in Constellations (with moon count)
on eve files.
http://www.eve-files.com/media/corp/0MAP0/withmoons_Heimatar.pdf
Note those are ZERO's either side of MAP. If a region has a space in it, say, Great Wildlands, the space is replaced with a _

Anyone who would like to host the files may do so if they simply mention that the maps where created by "Dr Slaughter of Colossus Technologies".
Enjoy.
Dr S
ps. Please let me know if you find any errors in the maps and I will endevour to fix them.

OMG -------------------------- Good thing PVP pilots dont do that! They are "initiating strategic military plans of aggression". They are not logging off to avoid an overwhelming fight! |

Originally by: Dr Slaughter Edited by: Dr Slaughter on 03/08/2005 00:22:16 I was reading a thread on eve-i about topological maps and thought I would try to automate the generation of them. Here's my first example:
The Catch Region
if that fails goto http://eve-top.tripod.com/ and follow the only link
Any feedback/comments/enhancement requests?
ps. My code is still somewhat broken so I have plenty of work as it is ;)

Your link doesn't work...just takes you to a blank Tripod page.

It's turned into PDF files and moved from Tripod to eve files (see thread above).
an example:
