Edited by: HonorHarrington on 03/08/2005 16:30:04 Get a option for them to be flown by pilots..or create a true fighter with no warp drives that are hard hitting. You could use shuttle models for them. Something like..1hi slot 1 mid slot 1 low slot. Even cooler would be a miss rack with like 4 shots of heavy miss. This would need to be reloaded at carrier

yep i definitely like the sound of this. I doubt they have programmed for ships that can move to allowed docking though. Think ATM to implement it they would have to allow carriers to anchor which would be stupid

i actually quite like the idea, mebbe make it a skill to pilot assault shuttles, and make it literally that - a shuttle with 2 turret/missile hardpoints, and the choice to mount seperate close assault missiles - they only have like 5k range, move quite fast, and get rocket, lite, heavy and mebbe a cruise variant, but i suggest make it 2 rockets or lites, or 1 heavy and nothing else. no modules, as the rest is standard outfit etc :)
o, and no cargo space, gotta dock in the carrier and reload via fitting screen...which also has a delay (engineering crews rushing around loading stuff etc, and to stop pwnage )

They should also not have the abilty to reload or repair unless back at carrier. Give them fuel so there warp would be limited to 1 or 2 systems or so...

I dislike the sound of this, mainly because it would make the carrier useless unless you had 15 people following you around all day. ------------------

Could be a decent option for rookie pilots. Fighters would be basically disposable ships anyways, so would take almost no skills to use and could be a good way to allow rookies to see what a large battle looks like?
Though as stated, could and most likely would be difficult keeping enough people around to make the logistics that much of a benefit. Possibly an option to allow AI to pilot ships to make up for lack of players when needed?

Thats kind of the idea, its a group thing. I personally love the idea. Have several BS pilots I know of that would ditch thier bricks of doom for the fun of some actual fighter pilot combat. Sides, reinforcing the concept of teamwork isn't a bad thing.

Edited by: Cortana Keyes on 13/08/2005 23:35:04 Well they will have to implement, 500m long ships as carriers, otherwise it wont be to scal., do you know if the fighters are going to be twitch based? example, xwing vs tie fighter, also adding hardpoints to ships would make ships even more vunerable to fighters, like being able to target engines, different turrets, targeting systems.

He prolly means the rapid battle deployment thingie, where titans can carry ships that other players can board. Thats been in the planning since the end of beta though ------------------

What a Crock of $%^&
Just make them Extra large Drones like the Current Heavy, medium, light Drones. Last thing I want is 15 Freinds launching from me then Going off killing what ever they Want. Its not needed and quite frankly lame. Next you'll be resurrecting threads to make EvE a First person Flight sim.
(sorry If I sounded Harsh but I feel Quite strongly on this one) |

i still like the idea of making player ships drone-piloted (and, therefore, obviously modifiable). what does everyone else think? you would need a carrier to launch them, natch.

Um, no.
Drones are tough as it is -- most heavies have more overall HP than any frigate I fly.
Though, I think "Fighter" ships would be fun. Make them nearly impossible to hit, but pretty much toast if they get hit. Make them do disgusting close range damage and fly at silly speeds, but with very limited slots and again paper thin shields/armor/hull. Would just be for fun really. Heck, limit them to "arena" matches even.
As for fighter weaponry: There should be only one or two weapons available per race. Mini Blaster, Mini Railgun, Mini Pulse Laser, Mini Beam Laser, Mini Autocannon, Mini Aritillery, Mini Rocket Launcher (fires rockets only, no defenders), Mini Torpedo (fires . Give them 2 high slots, 1 med, 1 low. They can't fit MWD.
I just think it would be fun. Not something "needed" to be sure.

I like the idea of frigate-sized drones that can be individually fitted with the turrets of your choice. This could possibly add a whole new line of turret types (drone turrets) to the market.
I don't see why they should be flown by players, but I think out*****ble XL drones is a great idea. Mainly because they'd be easier to hit, you'd be able to carry less of them, and this would therefore reduce the impact of the carrier from super-swarms of standard drones to a small fleet of robotic frigates.
The introduction of this may even bring in a need for new specialist roles such as anti-XL-drone, and anti-drone-command-vessel. And provided that the carrier drones are at least as good as inties, it may yet be a useful ship to have on the battlefield.
