greetings all.
This may be a newbie question, but i've been playing eve for over a month now, (mainly out in the boondocks with my corp) and have had little dealings with the Empires (except for a few "shopping trips".
WHat i would REALLY like to know, is what are the best ways to increase factional standing towards the Amarr empire, (except missions, which for some reason i can't get - my "tute agent" won't give me any more missions or agents, and i've done a total of 3 missions for him.) -----

You need to do your last mission for the tutorial agent! There are 4 (or 5) standard missions he gives out before giving you another agent.
To gain Amarr standing go into Amarr space and kill Sansha pirates.

i am trying to do that last mission!!!
every now and again (when shopping for skills) i dock and ask for a new mission...
i get "sorry nothing noww, come back later"
very annoying.
but thanks for the hint... guess one weekend i'll just go on a shooting spree vs the Sanchas

That is odd. Your very first tutorial agent should always have a mission (get me some training certificates) no matter how many times you visit after you have been assigned your first *real* agent.
I am not sure how to do this under the new "petition" system, but you used to be able to ask a gm to reset an agent/agent mission.

Killing enemies of the empire will also work, albeit EXTREMELY slowly.
i.e. hunt Bloods ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

I've heard that what also works is to attack cargo vessels from other factions. Since you are Amarrian, you should prolly attack Minmatar cargo ships. This should hurt your faction standing with Minmatar but increase it with the Amarrians. This becomes a balancing act because you don't want your faction standing with Minmatars to drop so low you will be attacked when traveling through MM space. However, I've never tried this because I'd rather hunt the NPC pirates.
