Having just finished fitting my first Badger 2, I'm confused by the amount of cpu left spare. After fitting ive got 1000 left unused. What are you supposed to do with all that cpu? Unless of course i'm missing something obvious, which is usually the case.

It's for playing Pong while you trundle around empire.
Afterall, Pong is a very advanced computer game that needs a lot of processing power.

Short answer - nothing.
I think devs planned that industrials will use mobile refineries and thats why they have so much CPU

wonder if its enough for a covert ops cloak - but i doubt it ??

Its been like that since i've started playing ( 2 years+ back ) ..
No real use for it exept for scan probe launchers and alot of shield/ew stuff.. but even then you wont use it all up I guess.

Dont see it much these days, but you used to see them in large fleet battles as a EW platforms.

Probe Launchers don't need a missile hardpoint.

I'm pretty sure it's because originally you didn't refine in a station but used an industrial with a refining module fitted. Was before my time so I'm not 100% sure. Maybe there's an answer in an FAQ sticky somewhere, seems to keep cropping up every couple of months.

But if they removed the ability to refine/produce onboard, why didn`t they strip away the excess cpu power I wonder. Seems like that could have been easely altered down.

That makes sense. I dont think it even made it into beta, but if that is the original concept that may explain both the name "industrial ship" (when they really are just haulers), and the ginoromous CPU they all have.

I think its hilarious, haulers having supercomputers with vastly more processing power than a battleship.

I always thought it was for the module that converted cargo space into drone bay, took alot of CPU if i recall from its stats.

Not a chance in hell, youd never find the PG, i think the 100mn need over a 1k PG --------------------------------

But what's the point? On your hauler your P/G is your limiting factor.
It's plenty good for an ABII, a buncha shield hardners and a medium booster II, with room for improved cloaking device and a scan probe launcher. Add in a couple of nanos and a WCS and you have quite a well tooled hunk of junk for operating in dangerous space.
(Strictly speaking you don't need the probe launcher, but every now and then you spot unattended ships in low sec space, and it's always a pleasure to ... tax them)
