know exactly what you mean..
takes me back to my beta days ( started late phase 6). good ol' times. merlins had 4 turrets, hedbergite and hemophrite in .6 systems, no auto pilot, news services in station... no 'warp to @ x range'
and the ever wonderful Armageddon Day..every skill to 5 with 500billion isk...wow.
welcome to the game, explore everything you can, make lots of friends and hook up with a good corp. do things together. Eve is one of the best games ever made in my opinion.

Go back and do the tutorials they really will help alot.
Try a little of everything before you set yourself on anyone thing.
Alot of vet players will help with isk/ships/mods/ect. Take what is offered don't beg though. It's a little old when someone new starts and someone just trys to help with a ship or two to get someone goin and they can't get them to take it.
Anyway do the tutorials there will be things that will take you a long time to realize you didn't know about it if you miss something.

The tutorials are ok, but tbh they arent really needed aslong as you have someone to guide you. If you want add me to your contacts and I'll help ya out if he isnt on or I can come along too, I'll be on for the next couple hours prolly.
Main things you need to know when you first start out:
1) Skill Training - I went for about a week before I was told about this :D!!!!! yea I know its sad...
2) Autopilot, how to use it and the Eve map.
3) Corporations, gangs, social life in eve.
4) How to choose your eve career and decide if you need to remake a character due to wrong choices of attributes when you created your character ( Can be very harmful after you have played so long and then realize you did this ) Some careers include: Mining
PVP
Missions
PVE Pirates/Rat, what eve calls their mobs/evil npcs, Hunting)
Combination of all / some of them. Theres more but the game is really endless and limitless.
Some games you pick a Mage character you can only do magic and you have to watch other people go by in their 'warrior' characters slicing and dicing and you think 'man i wish i could do that' well in eve whatever you see someone do, a little training and you can do it to.
Eve is what you make of it.

I played for a year up front 2 hours after I started. :)
The basic missions, though, ARE good tutorials. Also do a level one complex when you feel like it to get a feel for them. Each level is about twice as hard as before, so just do level 1s to start.

Ow... wait... Welcome :P
Agreed, the thread title is misleading .
Anyway, welcome aboard! There are a lot of good resources and nice people, glad you found both . Just to be redundant (I think it's important)... Make sure you have a clone, make sure you insure your investments. Once you get yourself 'settled', you're gonna want to train up the learning skills. There are some pretty detailed resources on the best ways to do this, so I won't go into them here. Also, if you think you're gonna me running missions, pick a nice, large corp and stick with 'em. I did missions for a tiny corp, and once I moved up to the next level I realized there were barely any agents at that level!
Good luck, have fun, watch out for jerks, scams, and pirates!

EVE is probably the most social of all games out there. When I was on my trial...I recieved a lot of help.
Also a good tip for you :D, look around for a newbie helping corp. I joined one and we did things as a team, plus they helped me build ships :D. YARRR!!! |

Thank you everyone for such nice replies, I feel really welcome here. Now I've played EVE for many hours and enjoy it more and more all the time.
I've received so much support in-game too, it's kind of amazing. No other MMO really has this helpful and nice people. I've met some 'villains' (pirates?) too but they're not stupid as in other games.. Seems more like roleplaying here =).
Regards, Ren

Welcome to the real world. Prepare to spend every free minute flying your ship. Forget all real life pursuits and strap in for the ride of your life.

welcome it's the best and thus the most addictive game i know. There have been marriages and funerals in this game, epic battles, rise and falls of alliances, great commercial feats,... Just set a long term goal (eve domination is a popular one) and have fun

Welcome to Eve.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |
