Hello, I am a new player in EVE Online. I downloaded and installed the game today, but before playing I read a whole lot of information about the whole thing. The written material impressed me.
I logged in and created a character (the most wonderful looking character creation ever..). The next thing was that I realised I have to leave for work in about 10 minutes so I skipped the tutorials and asked for some quick curious questions about things like how to move and mine... It took nearly 10 seconds to get a reply where some guy said that he'll just grab his gear (mining lasers?) and will come show me around the game. This impressed me too.
Right after that I learnt how to add this friendly guy to my contact list and contact him the next time I log to EVE (which I am very impatiently waiting for, yet, can't do it now as I'm not home).
I'm addicted after ten minutes. Not any game has done this before. I'm subscribing instantly after my trial perioid and quitting one other game I used to play. And I'm 100% sure about this.
(I really read a lot about the game's history and stuff before playing so I know what I'm talking about)
Thank you for such a great game.

A lot of players are happy to help if they're not doing other things, some will even stop what they're doing to offer advice and help where they can. With that said you can and most likely will run into some less than friendly people but don't let them put you off when it happens. Eve takes a while to get into and can be overwhelming when you think "all these other players have more skills than me, I'll never catch up!" but it isn't always that way. Find something you enjoy doing, look for others doing it, join a corp, make a corp... do what you want to basically :) Welcome to Eve!

Welcome to EVE. Your about to have the ride of your life. If you're married or have a gf, tell her to prepare to have another woman (EVE) in the relationship. (Aside, when my wife first got CC bill, she was like who the Feck is EVE online?!!, some dodgy **** site?"
Now she knows better, when I say I'm playing with EVE, she finds something better to do.
Joking aside though, this is a seriously addictive game, but what you put into it, you will get out!
Good Luck and have fun!

I'd say the above statement goes 10x over. What you put into it, you will get 10x back!

Edited by: Nicole KholdStare on 04/08/2005 23:14:07 Welcome to Eve a wonderous online universe with a multitude of possibilities where people from all over the world (and even china soon(tm)) get together and have an awesome time. Three hints that will make your new life enjoyable: 1. Trust no-one...not even yourself 2. Train learning skills - they pay off 3. Never fly anything you can't afford to lose

I hope the other game you are dumping is World of Warcraft.
Anyway, welcome to the world of EVE. I hope you enjoy your stay here.

Welcome.
There are some bad apples... but most of them rear their ugly faces here on the forums. Ignore them, make some friends, and have fun. There will undoubtedly be some trying times... but intelligent games for intelligent people are rarely easy.
