If you use a Radeon and DON'T crash on mugshots/market/zooming/etc. loading, could you please post what CPU/motherboard(chipset too!)/drivers(vid+mainboard)/windows version you are using.
If you're a techie, it would help if you include your bios version, brand and any graphics-related settings. (AGP aperture/AGP voltage/etc.)
Any information regarding graphics on your system can be of use, even if I didn't mention it above.
If CCP won't track down the problem, let's stick our heads together and give it a shot ourselves.

I have Sapphire Radeon 9700pro and have only had 3 crashes in over 2 weeks of almost continuous gameplay (at least 5hrs per day)
Anyway, heres my system: Athlon XP 2400+ (not o/c'ed) Asus A7N8X deluxe pcb ver 1.06. Bios 1004 release. Agp aperture 128MB. Fastwrites on. Agp 8x. AGP voltage @ mobo default (cant remember what it is, but Agp ver 3.0), think it may be 1.5v Sapphire Radeon 9700pro@non-o/c'ed settings, OGL + D3D quality settings @ ATI 3.6 defaults. Truform @ application preference. 2x256MB Corsair pc3200 sticks in dual-channel mode @ 6-2-2-5 timings and 200mhz (ddr400) Run game at res:1280x1024.
If you want more I can update after I check a bit more. Hope you can use this

Eve runs like a charm even overclocked to the hilt, never a single crash yet and been playing since day one. Only time I've ever had it bottom out on me is if I've gone silly at around 230FSB or so, or o/c'd the ATi to hell but that's to be expected.

Missing your software information gentlemen :)
Windows version, motherboard drivers and Catalyst version (modified? if so: omega drivers?).
Everybody is welcome to discuss any diffirences/similarities between crashing and non-crashing systems btw, the thread isn't only for posting stats. I'll be keeping the stats seperately in a textfile.
Also, it might help the debugging if people who do crash also post their stats, I'll post my own later on.

You who crash, do you crash on a freshly installed OS? This sounds like some conflict with some 3rd party program, anti-virus, virus, etc...
I bought a new computer, installed everything fresh and never crashed. All drivers are updated, win XP pro is updated to the latest SP + patches. Everything else is default except for changing the AGP to x8 and 128M I think. Probably tuned some graphics settings too but I did not crash before I tuned them.

First: I rarely CTD (it has happened about 4 times due to server node death). But, I have horrible frame rates in asteroid belts/near drones/near active mining lasers. No amount of tweaking has been able to correct this :( I have perfect frame rate around stations/planets/jumpgates/at warp.. which is very perplexing.
Stats (No Bluescreens or CTD's unrelated to connection):
1.4 GHz P4 on a intel 850 chipset MB 768mb RDRAM (443 mb free while eve is choppy!) 20GB HD Creative Soundblaster AudioPCI 64 ATI Radeon 9200 128mb DDRAM Runs the same on Catalyst 3.5, 3.6 and Omega drivers Intergrated intel NIC Windows XP (home) freshly installed.. had no CTDs on WinME either.
My biggest problem is this horrid framerate.. over a month of trying to fix it (upgrades, tweaks) and nothing has seemed to work :(

Sorry..WinXP Pro SP1, Catalyst 3.5, NForce drivers (damned if I remember which ones as I'm at work but they're not the newest ones) and a whole slew of background crud like norton AV etc. Oh and it's running in dualview (OS not Eve) on 2 x 21" monitors if that's of any relevance.

No probs here. P4/2800, WinXPPro SP1, DX9.0a, R9700Pro, driver version 6.14.10.6343 (about two weeks old or so). Intel i850 based chipset, driver as-from-factory (I've never had a problem with intel mobos), AGP4x+FastWrites.
Make sure you turn off antialiasing, both in the EVE panel and in the ATI control panel. That can cause serious problems with render-to-texture (which is what portraits, etc seem to use).

I sometimes run EVE on my laptop with a mobile Radeon processor, and I do get crashes (not just crash to desktop but complete system crash and reboot) sometimes, especially if I make several warp jumps in succession (like If I try to travel distances of several jumps). If I just stay in one system and go back and forth to a station, like when mining, then I can play all day without trouble. Its a compaq presario 2105US running XP Home, and another corpmember who has the same laptop has the same problem. Latest drivers dont fix it. Ive not seen the other problems you are talking about though.

Brand new Dell Inspiron 600m, Intel 1.4 Ghz Centrino chipset 512 MB Ram Win XP Pro ATI Radeon 9000 Mobility. DirectX 9.0a
I crash blue screen after intensive 3d loading (ie. Lots of Jumping). I notice the same crash when playing the sims as well. This crash originates in the file ati3d2.dll (not exactly sure on the exact name, but I know it's an ATI driver file, I saw it on the driver installation.) This file is a standard file that I've seen on multiple ATI cards, thus not surprising that different cards have the same problem. I'm thinking that it's a sub driver file which interprets 3D calls between directX and the drivers. My guess is that it's a bug in communication between directx and the ATI driver. Of course ATI has no clue about it and has pretty poor drivers so I'd expect as much, but it still ****es me off the same. I've been trying to research what's going on and what I can do about it, I'll post again if I find any answers.

After 5 days of troubleshooting, I finally got mine up and running:
Hardware: ASUS P4PE mobo w/ 845pe chipset Intel Pentium 4 2.4Ghz 1GB Crucial DDR333 memory ATI Radeon 9600 PRO SB Live! Value
Software: Omega Drivers 2474a for Radeon Latest SBLive drivers from Creative Intel 845pe INF update
No combination of drivers, sound acceleration settings, full screen/windowed mode, or power tweaks would get me running - I'd sometimes get as far as the character screen, or sometimes as far as the tutorial. What finally helped me was this:
http://www.intel.com/design/software/drivers/platform/inf.htm
The 845pe INF update basically fixed all that ailed me. After installing it, I was able to run Cat 3.5, Cat 3.6, *and* Omega 2474a drivers without any problems at all. The game now runs without a hitch, and looks really sweet with 4xAA and 4xAF turned on.

I think the common factors in this are...
Intel CPU Radeon 9x00 Windows XP (pro?)
Can anybody concur or disagree on this? Please only reply if you ONLY get problems in eve and are stable otherwise. ------------------------------------------ if (orbitstation==1) { orbitstation=0; } |

I think the common crashers use a radeon with an AMD cpu and a VIA chipset.

I've used VIA and Intel chipsets and have had crashes on both.
Current setup: IBM 8480-13X which is 2Ghz P4. Saphire ATI 9000 Pro 128Mb.
Had the 7.91 drivers from ATI and the same control panel with no problems UNTIL 1165 patch, then everything went bad. Installed the Omega drivers and have everything "Application preference" and it's running fine now. -- It is an important and popular fact that things are not always as they seem. - Douglas Adams
My system: IBM 8480-13X 2GHz P4 DDR 2100 ATI Radeon 9000 Pro (Saphire) SB Live! |

p4 3ghz intel board 2gig kingston x ram radeon 9800 pro 3.6 cata audigy winxp pro sp1 directx9b
reading through this topic i remembered i didn't install new drivers for my motherboard just flashed the bios
i installed new drivers for board and the problems were less
then i figured it might be a good idea too reinstall cata drivers and it was
i have no mugshot crashes or info crashes or esc menu crashes anymore
i don't know if this will help anyone but maybe a select few with systems close too mine

Dont think its just VIA chipset problem
My spec is as follows
Sapphire 9700PRO (currently at 4X but will up to 8X tonight) Catalyst v3.4 (heard going to v3.6 is ill advised) AMD 2800XP 512Mb RAM ABIT NF7-S (nForce2 - latest drivers) latest BIOS
1. No matter what option I pick I cannot see FPS. Anyone help me on the pref settings to check? 2. I regularly get CTD. A lot of times this is in the refitting screen or if I query the server and it takes time to respond. The latter is the main cause of crashes. 3. I've also recently switched to onboard sound and will turn that off this evening to check if that is the problem - latest drivers are buggy.
