Lo! Well, this is my first and only question to the devs since I started playing this game soon to be two years ago. I'd like to know when you peeps are planning on fixing the Volatility issue being that they don't deteriarate at all leaving us manufactures pretty useless after demand have been met ONCE!
So, I beg for an answer also for playing this game for soon 2 years without complaining.
Please, can any dev comment on when plans are being made to fix this issue???
Best Regards, Cry

Anyone...any dev at all?
I can't for my life understand why this question should be that hard to answer... :)

Edited by: Fester Addams on 08/08/2005 16:54:14 It would be very interesting to get an ETA on when volatility will hit the game, its already in the info and the longer its there and not in play the more whining there will be once its actually included as people will naturally get very upset when their expensive crystals start to crumble.
This is interesting not only from Mining crystal point of view but also from all crystals point of view.
Atm for example *edit: laser, not missiles* laser users who get their hands on faction damage crystals get a clear advantage in NPC hunting... wich leads to it being easier to kill the rats that drop the faction crystals.
I sincerely hope this will be fixed before the Amarr cosmos constallation is introduced as it will create a big influx of Amarr navy (or whatever they are called) crystals that are easy to get.

t2 strips cost around 17 mil a pop...
the crystals, especially t2, can also cost a lot.
if the crystals burnt up in the kind of time frame that would make the slightest impact on your sales then they would be way to expensive to give a viable return on the investment required to use them.

I agree with you...to a certain extent. All t2 components are expensive at start. But, for them to not deteriorate at all is a huge blow on us manufacturers. Once you have the crystal...well...you're set...which is not very good for business on out side.
So, I agree with you on the price but that will drop as soon as people start over manufacture these modules and also once they are over representated as far as loot.
Sureley an ETA on the arrival on these features is of greatest concern for me an my fellow manufacturers. Also for the users as they will see prices drop once it's been fixed.
See my point?

T2 crystals have a 10,000 cycle life time. It takes 500 hours of mining to deteriorate *one* mining crystal.

I have no Idea if your numbers are correct but I have no reason to doubt you.
This said 1 destroyed every 500 hours of mining is still infinately more than none destroyed.
The actual Time it would take before the crystal is destroyed is naturally open for tweaking however its better if they implement it as soon as possible as the more time that passes without it being implemented the more whining will occur when it is implemented.

It can't be that that the devs just ignore this thread and refuse to answer such an easy question. Maybe it is just the fact that they are on vacation which I read in the latest dev blog on www.eve-i.com.
But, there should at least be some confirmation, don't you think.
I have the utmost respect for CCP and what they have accomplished and I just wish that they would have the heart to answer.

If it's possible to run a profitable torpedoes business (more than ever ) it should also be possible with crystals.

Well, I think alot of people out there can vouch that I have not put all my energy into one product. Quite interesting comment you had there I must confess.
It seems you have no TechII bpo and don't really know how long it sometimes take to get one. And when you DO get one it turns out you won't make any profit off of it...quite annoying if you ask me.
However I understand where you come from and I just wanna make clear that I am not whining, I just want an answer on when they are going to fix the crystals so their bpos use is not in vain.
However...any dev is welcome to make a comment about this fix. It's quite sad really that an honest answer can't be give to a player that soon have payed and played this game for close to two years.

i would think people losing them to being killed during Ops would keep a flow of sales going... (prolly not what u want, but still)
personally, i think they autta leave the crystals be, -and have them stay unique and special in their imoratlity, if you will..
yes, i'm a builder, yes i understand your viewpoint... but cant we have *something* left alone in the name of INequality?
(sorry i'm just worn thin on equality arguments of any kind)

I think I read somewhere that crystals do deteriorate but you only see it if they are on escrow. Did you check that? I don't know if its true
