Good afternoon capsuleers 
There's been a lot going on in New Eden recently. Old ties are being broken, and perhaps new ones will be forged.
New Eden's political landscape is beginning to shift, and chaos is coming with it. CCP Zulu is here to very swiftly provide a few sources of information to recap what's happened so far, and to detail how you can keep up with what's going on.
More will be made apparent in future but right now, just as a teaser, check out his new Dev Blog.

Yes, on both counts.
We're starting small, but we're hoping that things will get bigger and bigger.

So without giving away any specifics and just to reiterate what Falcon said; these events and this story is about changing the world. That's a two way relationship as the world impacts the story and the story impacts the world. Someone further up the comments actually linked to a nice little hint dropped by our CMO in an interview recently :) |

You couldn't be more incorrect, given the fact that DUST is free to play. There's no need to sell it.
As for the purpose of live events? They're there to help bring New Eden and its backstory to life. While we accept there's some people in game who aren't interested in backstory at all and just want to blow stuff up, in the same respect we'd like to cater to those who actually want to be able to immerse themselves in the game world's history and discover why things are the way they are in game.
We make spaceships for people to fly. We make mission related content for those who want to PVE. We make tools to drive conflict for those who want to destroy and tools that encourage people to build and explore for those who want to manufacture and research. Live events are another facet of EVE, designed for those who want to involved themselves with ongoing storyline.
