Such a simple thing would make eve forum and eve-researching so much easier. 2005 people. And eve doesnt have such a feature in the forum. Every game and related forum I have used has a neat search function. Why cant Eve?
For example... I may want to bring a bug/exploit to the discussion forum. Or ask a question, but not want to waste people's time if it has been brought up a million times before. Standard procedure: do a forum search. If the bug is well known, you will get dozens of hits. No need to report it. If the question is common knowledge, you will read up on many posts and use other people's post as a valuable information resource. Want to be fully schooled in Crow set ups, tactics, and how missile damage is now calculated? It's only a forum search away. Marvellous little trick which has brought me up to speed with other games.
Why not eve?
I am well aware of the post in New Citizens Q&A : "How to search forums". The google trick doesnt work that well. Doesnt offer advanced forum filtering functions that we are all accustomed to (and why not). And lets face it. Its just crappy. Eve is a top notch game, and its embarressing that a feature like this has to be nudged aside and patched up with a crappy Google search explanation.
Im bound to receive some great technical explanations of why they dont have a forum search function... Something like it hogging too much bandwidth.. or that the entire eve database will crash or something because everything has to be indexed and think of all the lagggg it will create ect ect.. really.. I dont think so..
Add forum search!
Course i dont really know if this has been brought up before, so perhaps this post is redundant. Maybe i should have searched the forums on this matte.... Oh yeah.. I CANT!

oh, how i wish we had a forum search...
that and a "show me my posts" link or something like it so you can go back and see how many people have flamed you...

I agree.
The search is the most powerfull tool a forum can have.
Also i would like a "disable other members signature" feature for the forums.
These huge animated gif banners really annoy me

yep, if this hadn't been listed on the first page i'd have been posting about the very same issue. A search option would stop this.

Definitely. I hate goiing through the pages looking for a certain someone or a specific topic. Takes forever.

you can do that by clicking on your portrait in any of the posts youve already made. not the nicest way in the world (a user profile thingummy would be nicer) but it works.

I think the programmer of this forum is the same programmer that programmed EVE client. lol. There's so many things that EVE can be improved on it's not even funny. It would make the game much more playable.
