two words - `Dont mix` over 6 months ago, after i started to play the game, may dad saw the game and thought it would be great to start an account, then my brother, until yesterday we were all in a corp together with what I thought with no problems.
I then come home to find all corp funds GONE! all components gone. My corp mate (Father) then insists we talk onthe phone. He says he is not happy with the struture of the corp and starts insisting we use rules for cash flow. Noone spends any money (Over 30 mill isk) without decisions from directors, all the corp money will go into his alt.
My initial reaction is firstly that there is a lack of trust. I ask him to place all the money back in the corp wallet, which both running directors (Me and dad) both have access to.
This all started becuase 2 months ago I purchased 2 named faction launchers for running level 4s costing around 500 mill, now with the missile nerf (Unknowlingly at the time) only sold for 220 mill in total. He states I am losing him money. How was I to know they were going to implenment this nerf like 6 months back.
So after a heated decicussion on the phone he is saying how I am not making money and whining we have loost money to patch changed this is my fault. He states he knows what Im like and that if I want something i will have it, so basically he is saying he doesnt trust me with the 1.1 bill isk. I then state to him that i have not even touched these funds in the past weeks, as I knew he was saving for the tech 2 blueprints.
The call ended with me getting rather upset on the phone as he brought up a sesitive matter (My dead relation) - over a game so wrong.... That it when eve gets personal.
So i m telling him I will now walk from the corp as there is no way that eve and family mix. I took what belong to me, and I am joining mhy prevoius corp.
Play with family becuase they know you personally they can use this agaist you.
Obvoiusly there is his side to this, I m posting this using an alt for good reason, but there is his side. I dont want him to reply to this so it turns into a flaming match.
Just wondering what people think to this. ?

Sad to hear it took a bad turn. I think your right in taking a break from the family corporation and look for a new corporation. I think eve should always be enjoyed as a fun game and while you can love your parents, leisure time is not the same when they mingle in.

Overall I think it's pretty messed up and you just did what I think anyone would have told you to do. Walk.

Not Odd really.
My brothers and I used to have fist fights over pwning each other on console games... And some PC games actually, Dune II on our Amiga was one of the first PC games we fought over.
But we were kids then... ------------------------------------------------ Current Hobby other than EVE |

Sit back and look at it objectively and it's a bit screwed from all sides.
Your story isnt consistent btw. You bought the launchers 2 months ago. The nerf was common knowledge then

That is kinda scary, okey now I don't have any family members playing this game but have a few real life friends that I got hooked on this game.
All but 1 have joined together in a corp, at first we where all directors and honestly it worked great we are freelancers and don't really have a corp filled with isk or stuff. Then we got another real life friend in and he kinda wanted to build a real corp structure, okey I tought well that can be done so we started to make ranks... Later that friend left and went to WoW (he might come back who knows), lucky us that we are good friends still and our corp structure is working, whenever someone is leaving eve (WoW or somethign like that) I put them as normal members and promote another to director, we try to have 3 working directors at all time plus me as CEO.
directors have so far been guys from my home town who are real life friends too. and lucky me we seems to be pretty hooked on this game too
Sad to see family "break" up because of a game, just let that be a lesson to others in this game... it is just a game, don't let it get personal.

that is just ****in nuts
how mad is that?
really - it's just a game
do you fight when you play "cluedo"
good luck on sorting that out - really a PC game should not be cause fights in families
hehe - while i'm writing this I've just remembered when my mum and i used to play "Pro Golf" on PS one - many years ago - well used to really fall out over that

What people forget is virtual money and real money are the same, in that they both equate to time and work required to generate them. Hence things get heated when money and famliy/friendships are mixed.
Does sound like six of one and half a dozen of the other though

Heck I can't even get along with the people I DON'T know in my corp. I recently left the corp I founded over a year ago due to constant "whining/GIMMEE! GIMMEE!/I HATE THIS CORP!/The CEO sucks!/I was stupid and flew into known camped .4 space and lost my battleship and now YOU need to make me a new one!/Thanks for the all the battleships, skills, and isk I'm going to leave the corp now!" etc. etc.
No thanks. I'm done. Time for a change. My new corp will only be ME! Who? ME! Who else? ME! |

Wow, that is incredibly sad.
Sorry to here its gone so seriously wrong, for sure no one loves you as much or can annoy you so much as your parents. i can see it from both sides, being a father and son myself.
I myself take EVE probably too seriously, I enoy it immensely but have goals that I am striving to achieve, having fun on the way. Im in a extremely small corp with my bro in law, fortunately we get on swimmingly. Possibly because we working to more selfish ends.. with a smattering of corp activity thrown in.
i was tempted to set my own son up an acct, teach him to mine for me and basically abuse the situation for my benefit, getting ore and mins to suplement my own world domination game plan.
but he's only 5 and i suspect he would quite quickly WTFOWN me anyways so I will continue as before.
I hope you resolve these issues with your old man though.

You're taking family disputes, over such a trivial matter as online gaming to boot, to a public forum in hope of finding a resolution and actually want an opinion?
I'd quote Stavr0s but that would get me zhugified. So, instead, just, err, ban yourself.

Two things...
A; since a faction or named launcher(s) only netted you a marginal gain in cpu/grid/ROF....a 500m isk pricetag on each of them was WAY over the top just for mission running....you blew the pooch on that one.
B; Daddy needs to seriously grow up, it's just a friggin' game ffs
