There have been plenty of fleet battles that I could put in here, but the most memorable fight I've had was at the end of the GNW in H-PA29. It was just me playing a game of chess with a Supremacy Megathron and 2 Phantom Squad (Scorp and Raven). I'm pretty sure they were all CA at the time.
It started off with me sat in my Raven on the 9-2 gate waiting for something to shoot. Sure enough after a while a nice red Megathron jumps through looking like lunch. Unfortunately he made the right choice from the start and headed back for the gate with his MWD, gating on about 10% armor just before another salvo of torps connected.
I forget exactly how he and his mates ended up back in system, but once I'd got their ship types together, I deceded I was going to have to change things up a bit and use direct damage to get the best results. I hopped into my Armageddon, equipped with a healthy set of overpowered mega pulse and the real games commenced.
After a few trial engagements and a little playing of mind games with the Scorpion pilot, it became clear that they could be separated for a short time and it was only a matter of time before they made a mistake big enough to give me an opening. I just had to make sure I was there to capitalise on it when it happened and not get myself killed in the process.
After a little while longer warping around the system, I got what I'd been waiting for. I ended up alone at a station 30km from the Raven with his mates a good few seconds behind and unable to warp in any closer to me than he was. We engaged and after a few seconds the Megathron dropped out of warp. Fortunately he'd used a bookmark which placed him over 100km away from me with the station between us preventing him from having a quick angle of approach. He didn't have the range to hit me so he was out it for now. It was looking like the fight with the Raven was going to be a close run thing. I'd got him into armor but he still had cap to boost his shields, slowing my progress considerably. A couple of salvo's of his torps had taken me to about 80% armor and he was going to get through the rest pretty quickly. The Scorpion had arrived by this point, 30km from me, and was just opening fire too. His missiles were definitely going to tip the balance with the Raven, so I warped out to a close bookmark before the next salvo hit keeping my 80% armor.
Immediately after dropping out of warp I turned and warped back the point I had just left, hoping to use my faster lock time and direct damage to finish of the Raven and get back out before I took too much damage. When I dropped out of warp back at the station, the Raven was gone. The Scorp was at 30km and the Mega had closed the gap to around 80-90km. I targeted the Scorpion knowing from earlier testing that he had ECM fitted, but not enough points to jam me. He shields dropped in seconds and due to a combination of inexperience, and overconfidence in his ECM (due to the previously mentioned mind games ), he hadn't started to align. His armor was dropping fast but he started to gain speed, it was going to be another close call. The Megathron was getting some hits this time too, but fortunately still didn't seem to be within range to do good damage. The Raven had also undocked from the station after making repairs to his armor, but with over 50km to cover, his torps were never going to enter into play. The Scorpion popped a few seconds before he had enough speed to warp away and I retreated to a safespot with about 20% armor remaining and a great adrenaline rush.
A great fight and a favourable result, one of the most entertaining nights I've had in Eve, and it wasn't marred by any smack in local that I can remember.
