I also had to log in to +1 this. My personal opinion is that these will not work as a stepping stone. People will think the arena is the end all/be all of PvP. Why step further when you have your PvP easy, fair (lol), and on demand?
I feel (again my opinion) that the arena PvP will begin to be seen as the 'real' PvP and anyone in low/null are just gankers and cowards. Obviously others already hold that opinion, but I feel like anyone who says that hasn't actually tried living in low/null.
Anywhooo, why do people keep asking CCP to do stuff the players can already do? Oh yeah, you want perfectly even matches kept safe from outside influence because that's 'real' right? |

I also don't get the 'fear change' thing. Would people like me have stuck around for 9 years if we did? This game is so different from the first time I logged in it's pretty night and day.
Seen (and enjoyed) plenty of change through these years, change can be good if it's well thought out and in the spirit of the game.
Again, we have all the tools we need to do this as players, just not the motivation it seems  |

By fear of change, i was talking about the people that say arena gamplay will ruin the PVP we have now or say that it won't work because it didn't work in other games. How can you prove it until you try it? That's why what everyone is saying is opinion. I've said mine, we've heard yours ad nauseam.
The evidence is from the other games mentioned, so yeah there is evidence.
An arena in the spirit of Eve would be something player created, not Dev implemented. Again, just my opinion. |
