(this came up in a thread at eve-i forum)
Currently when one jumps out of a system, there's almost never a way for any 3rd party to tell where they wind up.
Wonder if it wouldn't make more sense and create better gameplay if the jumpgates were instead linked back-to-back, i.e. jumping through Jita stargate in New Caldari system would place one near the New Caldari stargate in the Jita system, and vice versa. It would actually make possible to set up traps for PC pirates trying to bail out when their blockades are broken (but also would allow pirates to set up some forces to catch possible blockade runners ;p) as well as somewhat increase the odds for successful pursuits...

Great Idea, if you like the idea, reply, otherwise the devs may not notice the thread.
Taken from the May 29th 2003 Devchat at EveGate . <Muaddid> Q: When will sentry gun and station and similar construction pods be introduced on the market? <Hellmar> we have various player owned entities already implemented. Sentry guns, power/shield generators, field repair mini-stations, mobile refineries. We are still working out the last tidbits of how they can be over taken, what is the penalty of having a sentry gun kill a n00b etc. and we have been a bit busy with plugging the holes that people have found.I would say that you'd start to see these items on the market in about 2-3 weeks, very expensive to begin with |

Edited by: Astaroth on 22/07/2003 11:28:12 hmms would make gatecamping even more powerful since then u would be able to hit ppl going in both directions instead of just one
and at least u can look in local to see if any bad ppl are in system but not if u jump straight into theyre arms.....

I strongly believe that it would be more realistic, and I think it should be implemented... BUT the worst thing about it is that when you travel with the auto-pilot on, you end up your trip just next to a stargate... and while you're eating or watching TV or whatever, you've got all the chances to have your ship staying there and getting fired at. So, if linked gates are implemented, it would be CRUCIAL to also add the possibility to set a station as an auto-pilot destination.

I think this is already in the pipeline - I remember a dev post about it some time back.

agreed the DEVS were planning to introduce gate to gate jumping, but hell, it was probably too difficult or would involve someone not taking off on holiday
gate to gate makes GREAT SENCE, gate speeds u up, gate slows u down - GET TO WORK!

It would dramatically increase the gate camping issue. Which is not a good thing. Pirates need a place to blockade but things would get out of hand.
Saying that this is on the developers plan list is disconcerting. I had thought the original reason you didn't arrive at a gate was to help prevent PVP abuse.

The only reason I don't want this is because it makes eve a more dangerous place.
For that reason i think it is essential.
