Ah well...Flame me for it but I do think there is a problem in the loot tables.
Cruisers dropping Basic versions while frigates drop the standard and semi-rare version is a little fuggered, imo. Frigates should be dropping the basic level versions with the odd chance of dropping the standard tech lvl 1. And the cruisers should drop the standard tech lvl 1, with the odd chance of dropping rarer version.

Yeah, that about sums it up.
Although it might be a simple error in the table, that's causing the big guys to only drop one item. If it was set back to 3, who knows what we could be getting? In my experience, a drop was (on average) ammo+module+gun. Maybe if they were dropping 3 items at a time, this behaviour would come back..

Jash - yes there is a problem with two things: the specific range of the "throw-away" items that get dropped by some cruisers, and, the number that get dropped.
(i.e. getting only 100 ammo from a 50k cruiser on a regular basis is "wrong", or getting "Basic" items when a lower difficulty NPC awards mark I or IIs as its "standard" drop [not its rare])
What isnt wrong is getting 1 Protoype 250 in ever 1000 Cruisers.
Too often people are pointing at the latter as the problem (it isnt) whilst ignoring the former (which is).

They do drop good stuff.
A: It's not what you expect them to drop or what you thought they'd drop or what they used to drop pre-patch.
B: You have to kill multiple spawns sometimes, sometimes you can get a good drop right away. You really don't expect to get uber drops every single time?
C: Even if you can make more money mining, it's not nearly as fun.
