How about a low end skill to increase the amount of ammo a gun can hold. Useless for Amarr, unless it is weapon type specific, and the Amarr version reduces the volitility.
Something like Hybrid Ammo Capacity where each gun can hold 5-10% more ammo per skill level. Shouldn't take too much time to train.
It seems the next logical step in combat skills without directly effecting damage output. Encouraging longer engagments seems best.

Its a good idea.
Its not going to make any longer engagements though. Don't think I've ever run out of ammo in A Combat situation.
Would make NPC'ing a little easier.

Yeah...clip size doesnt really affect overall combat all that much anyway (unless youre like me and forget to start the gun again ) so this would just be another lame skill. _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

I would prefer a ammo compression skill, making it take less cargospace. Really hate filling up my ferox cargobay to 80-90% with ammo and still have to jump out to pick up more on a angel extravaganza...

Why not just give all ships a second cargo bay type area that is specifically for ammo, perhaps make is 50% of the base cargo bay size but it can only have the various types of ammo put into it.

BTW, good idea on the compression of Ammo. It would solve 2 problems at the same time.

Im mostly a projectile weapon user, and having skills to increase ammo hold in gunns, or as mentioned before, ammo storage compression.. Would make a HUGE difference in combat.
The really funn stuff about using projectiles is that they all have their own sizes, ranges, dmg types, and dmg ammount..
now this is normal, except for the sizes.. ALL Projectile ammo types have different sizes, and this does immense changes into the DOT, depending on ammo's. specially with the larger gunns.
having a skill that affects the size of the ammo, or cargo capasity of the gunns would ammount allot.. heck this could affect all turrets and missle launchers. or make it a specialisation skill even.. i dont mind having to spend a few extra sp's to get more ammo into these honneys =)

Simpler fix - ammo rack. Fits in drone bay - comes in three sizes, so you can load up a few extra cruise missiles or whatever at the top end and still be useable on smaller ships.

interestingg ideas - the other option of course is to simply lay youre own giant sec cans near combat grounds (safespot or moons) and when u are getting low simply restock from there.
U can stock 4-8 giant sec cans with up to 20k m3 of ammo should solve youre problems
