Hey folks, need some help with a somewhat frustrating issue. I recently setup and configured phpBB with the API Reg Mod. Everything is up to date, and for the most part works just fine.
Lately however, when certain individuals try to register for the board, they get " The value you entered is too short" error. It does not happen with everyone, just a few individuals, most with whom coincidentally seem to be from overseas.
I've tried registering personal alts after they reported the issue, and have no problems, my accounts register just fine lol .
I am running a custom theme on the board, however I followed the instructions as per the YouTube video, and followed the steps to get it to work with the API Mod in AutoMod.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not seeing anything as far as error logs, but not sure if I am looking in the right place? |

Just recently upgraded to the latest version, thanks for that. Any news on the actual database update? Not sure if I did something wrong as I am not seeing any of the new Odyssey mods . |

For the life of me, I can't seem to get Jabber external authentication to work on a Windows box. I've added and modified all the lines in the .cfg as per the posts above, but it still doesn't seem to work. I can register any account name/password remotely using Pidgin, which is obviously not very secure.
Is there a chance of getting some type of walk through to help us to get this to work? Much appreciated. |

If you don't want users to be able to self register, you have to disable mod_register in your ejabberd config. Just commenting out the mod should be sufficient. If you are able to self-register an account AND THEN LOG IN WITH THAT ACCOUNT, it would seem that you are not using external authentication at all, but rather internal authentication: self-register is not supported in external authentication. You will never be able to login with a self-registered user when you are running external authentication. Are you sure you restarted the ejabberd daemon? When you are trying to authenticate, do you see authentication requests coming into your logfile? (see /var/log/ejabberd/exauth_phpbb.log like I mentioned in my post) I think my post on ejabberd integration is (sadly) the most complete documentation there is atm: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3539374#post3539374
Yugo, between your write up and my experimenting, it took me a couple of days to figure it out as I am self-taught with all this, but finally got it working. First off, I could not get this to work on windows using the v2.1.11 release of ejabberd, I had to download and install v2.1.10.
I installed v2.1.10, and then followed all the steps in your post. I was having issues logging into the ejabberd web interface when I enabled external auth, so I did some poking around.
In Cyerus' "ejabberd_side.php" file, I changed the value of error reporting on line 4 to "error_reporting(1);"
Lines 13 & 14 to read:
private $_log = true; private $_debug = false;
And finally line 15 to read:
private $_logfile = "c:/exauth_phpbb.log";
Take note of the file "exauth_phpbb.log" in line 15, as I had to manually create that using notepad and save it directly to the c:\ drive, for it to work and write to the log.
Also, the only other problem I seemed to run into is the fact I am running XAMPP, and even though my PHP Path is set in Windows, it did not seem to execute the "ejabberd_side.php" file. In my ejabberd.cfg file, towards line 202/203, this is what I had to enter in order to get it to work:
{auth_method, external}. {extauth_program, "c:/xampp/php/php.exe C:/xampp/htdocs/forums/store/mods/eve_api_6/tools/ejabberd/ejabberd_side.php"}.
I am not the best at explaining things, but I do hope this helps my friends on Windows machines save some time and to get this mod up and running. This is an extremely valuable feature of this package and I thank all of you who helped develop it and have helped nubs like me to get it to work!

Cyerus wrote:Alizar Civire wrote:Is this author still active at all? I've made a few changes to the item list in the mysql database however it sure would be nice if the mysql database would be updated by the author. Assuming it was created using an API -> MySQL program or data dump. If we could figure out where he got the database or how he created it, I would love to recreate it for Rubi and get it uploaded.
Also interesting thing that could be added would be linking player names in forum posts. Whether I'm active or not should not influence whether you ask a question or not, but I'm currently enjoying a few weeks off, actually playing the game for a change rather than developing the mod for it. And yes, I'm still developing and maintaining the mod.
Thanks for the update Cyerus, I know many of us look forward to and await the update. Enjoy your game time .

Cyerus, as always thank you very much for keeping this project going, and for your recent flawless update. I have a question I am hoping someone can help with. I have ejabberd working just fine, but I am curious how one goes about sending out broadcast messages. I can use Pidgin and the ADHOC commands to send out announcements, but I know there is an announce/broadcast system which ejabberd uses internally, I am just not sure how to go about setting it up.
If someone would be so kind as to walk me through getting that working, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance |

Thanks for the latest update. Before I attempt it, how easy/difficult is it to get OpenFire integration up and running? |

Managed to install the forum update just fine, but ran into issues with getting OpenFire to work. Is there any chance of a simple write-up to help us newbs get Jabber integration to work with OpenFire? Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Hey guys, ran in to a problem I was hoping you could help with. I have a corpie who is having issues with getting connected to Jabber due to having an apostrophe in his name. I've searched this thread for a solution, and came across someones post who mentioned:
"Also, if people have apostrophe's in their character names, you will have to hack /xmlrpc/forum_side.php to translate jabber users to forum names/Eve Character names."
I am an epic nub when it comes to this stuff, and would def appreciate some help in getting the php file setup to accept and allow players with apostrophes in their names to be able to connect to Jabber.
Any help is greatly appreciated. |

I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to setting up and configuring this stuff. While I was able to get ejabberd integration to work, I could never figure out how to get OpenFire integration to work with this mod and the user service plugin. If someone could maybe write up a detailed guide as to how to configure this with OpenFire, it would be greatly appreciated. |

Is something wrong with the API server? As of yesterday the eveapi_cron.php script runs, but abruptly stops spitting out no errors, deactivating members accounts. I noticed I was getting API errors in EVEMON as well. Can someone confirm if you are experiencing similar issues or not? Thanks. |

Disregard the above post, seems to have been an API issue. All is working fine now.

Yeah I've noticed this for the past couple of days as well. When running the script, I am getting:
EVE API Connection error: 60 -> SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate
Any workaround for this? Thx. |

From what I see, the certificates seem fine. Mind you I am self-taught at all this lol. Also I seem to have fixed the issue on my end, or maybe it's just coincidence and fixed itself, but this is what I just changed to get it to work again.
In the forums directory, navigate to includes\eveapi\Pheal
Open PhealConfig.php , and go to line 79, or somewhere around there, and change the public $http_method from curl, to file. Example below:
* which http request method should be used 'curl' or 'file' * @var String */ public $http_method= "file";
This seems to have done the trick for us, no more certificate errors, and the script successfully runs once again! Hope this helps, and maybe Cyrus can verify that this does actually fix the issue till something more permanent is developed.

Subsparx wrote:I can confirm that using the file method instead of curl fixes it. I wonder what caused curl to stop working out of the blue though, and for multiple people at that. Go0fBall, are you hosting on a Windows machine? If you are, perhaps a security update from Windows caused something to break when using curl?
Glad to hear that the fix worked for you as well! Yes, we do run a Windows Server 2008 box, and I thought the same thing that possibly an update messed something up, but when checking through our Windows update log, the last update was from May 20th, (KB3054476) and reading the description of that update, I do not think that is what broke the script from running.
I'm thinking this is more of something on CCP's end, but again I am sure Cyrus will be able to confirm/verify once he gets around to reading this thread. |
