Mine would have to be in tpar-g when there was at 1 miniute 103 people in local and 103 in gang and then in the time of abut 30 seconds it had jumped to 241 uh oh i think bigben needs a new dieper

That would be the biggest battle you've been in, not the biggest war.

biggest battle: during the ca/sa wars, cant remember exact figures but was pretty uber fleets back then.
the ca/sa war was the the longest war anyway..and if u total up the amount of ships lost for both sides i bet that would would come to an awesome amount of isk...ca were also pretty much enemies of the world, so u could call that one big war really..

I didn't play eve back in the uber fleet days. the bigest battle I was ever in was prolly the battle for fat in the Coalition-FIX war. the Xetic war had bigger numbers but very little actual fighting.

Biggest war EVER was the CA vs. Stain war. No doubt. Not a faintest chance of finding any greater war in any aspect.
I choose to call it the CA/Stain war only because Stain was so easily the toughest enemy, even though nearly everyone in 0.0 at the time participated against (or with, but few i might add =P) CA.

tbh i'd say the biggest war is already happening.... approx half of eve is at war with the other half... the lines have pretty much been drawn already and everyone is fortifying their regions and borders. Everything is set to stage a momentus event in EVE. I dunno atm just seems the calm before the storm with minor skirmishes. Hope some eve historian is taking notes of todays events for the future (much more interesting than some silly npc empires).
On a side note, do you guys ever have a feeling that the devs might be manipulating alliance politics to actually provide entertainment to players?

The Biggest I was part of was a SE + ATUK attack against CA.
SE had a fleet of 100, ATUK had a fleet of 80+ and CA had a fleet of 120+
The SE and ATUK fleets came from two different directions and jumped into the waiting CA fleet.
It was a massive battle.

The old Battles between CA/SA. Those without a doubt are the best i can remember because there were so many. The battle that everyone is referring to was crazy, me in a dual mwd crow webbing and killing every ceptor /frig i could get me fingers on couldn't believe i survived beging that i was in the middle of the fight the whole time running back and forth to people saying the were warp scrammbled to set them free. Those were great and awesome fights.3 or 4 times got into the structure and had to fly to d87 repair only to come back and get a little more fecked up...

Didnt you fraps part of that? I remember that there was a big major battle, and side skirmishes all over that area. Amazing to see all those fleets clash. To bad i got killed by the xetic fleet 1 jump away from our main one due to lag when they warped in
I liked that battle in U-Q though, when the CA fleet outmanouvered a doubblesized SA fleet and managed to setup at a gate right before they jumped in (bad intel on SA¦s part i belive) and got caught in massive lag. It was a total massacre. ------------------------------------------------

Hmmm....
I have played Eve since retail and I have been in a lot of wars and battles...I agree that the CA/SA conflict was the longest and bloodiest war I ever took part in (I was serving in VOTF back then under Xirt the Dark Lord) but some of the most hectic and longest running battles I ever fought in were against NVA, PA in Venal while in service to the Dark Emperor of the Forsaken Empire...there were severl large battles. However, the CA/SA battles were without a doubt the largest.
...by the way...I am back!

The first Day of the Great Norther n war.
The first battle was about 140 vs 170
Second battle was about 140 vs 160
I commanded the first battle, And i have to say it was a defining moment for me in Eve, was about as good as it gets.
Fleet battles of this size are a rarity these days, and with the new style of war, maybe never to be repeated again.
The largest war Eve has ever seen was the Great Northern War, nearly a year of constant skirmishing, running fleet battles, and massive dail losses for both sides.

Totally, the historians have something to look forward to there! you might be looking at something like 2 x 300 fleet battles if both sides managed to collate their collective forces enough. North VS South, it 'will' happen sometime soon, and when it does - if the nodes hold up then it will be something to write about for weeks afterwards :)

Edited by: Kirin on 16/08/2005 15:06:22 I'd have to say the bigest battles I've been in and longest standing wars were SA vs. CA DSS through HLW and then in the nearest future the GNW. In the beginning I remember running a fleet through Tribute to Venal engaging PA, while RKK and co engaged from the opposite end. Total allied ships close to 100 PA responded with excellent tactics on that with at least 2 groups of about 60 and a third support group jumping back and forth 3 systems to reinfoce both of their positions with another group of about 60. In the end our invasion was stopped but local had about 200+ in it :)

Thanks to yours truley, ATUK was able to warp right on top of that fleet (referred to as the "ghost fleet" by CA if I remeber correctly, since half of them didn't ever render on their screens) I'll have to dig up the log where I had uncloaked, got scrambled, lost all my structure, then somehow reappeared, unharmed in a SS.

I'm gonna have to say SA vs CA over the GNW. SA vs CA lasted for what seemed ages. Sure GNW had some huge fights but they didn't happen as often. Almost everyday in U-Q you would have some sort of fleet battle. At times things looked bleek for SA, I remember being in a gang and we just safespotted 4 nights in a row as a CA fleet plunged past DSS. Later when I joined BNC, BoB took a little roadtrip and that was probably the craziest part of the war. CA was filled with enemies, SA were on their front door, BoB came in the backdoor, and xetic was making some sort of a comeback from immensea. Its a shame CA is no more because they would always put up good fights.

the lowest point of SA i think was when C4 occupied the southern regiosn and ca had gone deep thru catch...stain had to call upon fa/cfs to help them..
i was part of the cfs group going down there in my caracal..it died.

Yes, the Southern War was deffinatly the biggest war in the history of EVE. Longest, too. Started about at the founding of the original Xetic (which was about the time I started playing this game) and it took about half a year to get Xetic involved (first on CA's side, then on SA's side, but please don't get into that). (Also, as it turned out, the biggest war in theoretical participants happened to be the South, too. Which was proven at launch of Shiva when Xetic turned out to be as big as CA and SA together, and the rest of the alliances were small in comparison to THOSE) Also, if you go on how the forum war was going, then CA/SA were deffinetly the fiercest war. Of course, there were times I thought that all the smacktalkers tended to migrate south. Can't say I know anything about the north, though, and I've been on the forums like a vulture since early 2004.
P.S. Yes, I was in Xetic so my view is a bit biased. Just a minor point of the CA/SA/XF war: noone in XF ever really cared about neither DSS nor HLW --
Don't post nerf-threds, especially not as a joke. It's not funny, and you come across as a complete idiot. |

Yeah xetic was in a really bad situation about exactly a year ago. The military was basically a little gank squad and no one came to fight. I remember having like 4 xetic guys helping stain. Then CA started focusing on xetic and took all the immensea stations without any resistance. Then they started heading deep into omist/feyth/impass. That was xetic's darkest hour, yet somehow it got better after I had left.

Hey Nira, nah not quite yet.. still somewhat slow playing eve from China.. should be better soon. But I will...

Seriously Aeryn, if you keep missing your daily dose of vitamin Eve you'll wither up and get the black death.
The only cure is to start playing Eve again.
Tbh starting Eve right now on your 2$ chinese 100mbit connection would be a very good thing indeed. --------------------------------------

Biggest war was indeed the SA v CA war.
The GNW was big, and maybe even involved more pilots then the SA v CA did at any single time, but the amounts of fleet fights in the CA v SA conflict was simply larger, as will have been the total casualties and damages inflicted.
However, the GNW was fought with far more eye for efficiency. While the SA v CA war was a war destined to never be won (neither side had the will to do what was needed to do so, with exception of the c4 occupation of southern SA territory), the GNW from the outset on was a war that would end up with one side destroyed and the other remaining.
Personally, I like the annihilation style wars better.

http://www.eve-files.com/media/corp/7THSC/ Some screenshots from a forgotten battle in the CA/SA war (didn't find any references to it on the 'biggest battle' thread), from june last year. CA had put some medium bubbles up on the 36n gate in u-q, SA had a big force coming in from the hed direction, xetic coming in from behind. Think I went through 3-4 rifters tackling in that fight :)

The Great War cost billions upon billions (accum. over 2 years, ranges in hundreds) of ISK for all sides. But that didnt matter, as all those involved (at least on the factional levels) had resources and economic throughput...
Damn damn damn you masta killa.. I will but not yet. Make sure you shape up harry and co gddmnt.

It was a massive battle.
hehe I can recall that, we got pretty sqeezed there but was fun
I never loaded, and crashed out about 5 times :(
anybody still got any fraps of this?
I remember somebody in the SE gang saying they frapsed it, but I haven't seen it nor do I know who might have it.
Yea, the inital lag was pretty bad. I got semi-luck and only had about a min of lag, but still....that battle was decided as much by lag as by tactics. _________________________________________________
