Seems like something that would be good to have. Assuming we don't already have it and I have yet to find the button. I don't think we have it anyway. The Battle of Wizna. Like the movie 300 but with worse odds and the Germans as the attackers. |

Well then I'll take that bullet for the greater good. Or use the freedom of choice to switch the option off.

Forget it. CCP simply has no control over the forum software. It was bad enough when they switched to it, then had to close the forum due to several bugs, and even today does it have its odd moments.
Try doing the following: when you see a thread that is guaranteed to be locked then open a reply to the thread in another window and leave the reply open. Wait for the thread to get locked and only then send your reply! You will see that you can post a comment even after a thread got locked. It is great for when you want to do a "In after the lock!" comment. Or when you get banned from the forum can you still post with one of your two other characters.
CCP knows about it... I'd say it is a pretty hopeless cause to ask for new features.
And, by the way, you should post this into Features and Ideas Discussion. Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |

You're ignoring the entire thread / all other content written on a topic you were engaged enough in to post - just to follow replies to yourself?
I can see the reason for the feature and don't have an objection to it; but it seems very, very self-centered to me. Malcanis for CSM7 - here Malcanis on High-sec - here |

but generally, when some one replies to a point you've made, they will quote you. i mean, we've both just done it. it serves a useful purpose, imo. you're tired, stop posting. |

Yup, and I see the thread on the front page which means other people respond to it as well. They may have relevant feedback between my most recent post (Found via search / post history) and the latest post in the thread; even when they haven't quoted me.
I don't disagree with the feature. I just think it is very self-centered / narcissistic almost. Like "I don't care what everybody else said, I just want to reply to the person that quoted me".
P.S. The OP has just been included in a multi-quote. Should they be notified again? What if I responded to them as well? Malcanis for CSM7 - here Malcanis on High-sec - here |

This is a pretty common feature on other forums and multi quotes have never been a problem. It's the post you quoted that get's notified.
And I don't consider it self centered. Larger threads can have 3-4 different conversations on the same subject going on inside them not to mention enormous amounts of filler in between in the form of one liners, memes and flaming. The Battle of Wizna. Like the movie 300 but with worse odds and the Germans as the attackers. |

You must be new. Search the archives for when this new forum came into being. It was a huge shitstorm.
It still hasn't got features common to forums from last century. Amphetimines are your friend.

This isn't a new concept by any means. It's been around for years on other major forums and haven't been a problem there.
if you want to notification spam someone you can use likes or send them in game letters. Neither of which is a problem either.
Besides it's still freedom of choice. You could just not switch it on if you feel it's a problem. The Battle of Wizna. Like the movie 300 but with worse odds and the Germans as the attackers. |
